Capital One CLI

So normally I haven’t had a problem getting a CLI with Capital One, last time was January. Score has went up a lot, no baddies, so I went for a cli request. I got the oddest response from my denial on both cards.
This was the reasoning behind my denial;

· A credit limit increase is currently not available upon request because Capital One is evaluating account activity at assigned credit limits.

Anyone else??

Re: Capital One CLI

Cap One wants you to put spending on the card, I have been denied 7 straight times since 6/30/17 for "not enough usage", true since QS has been SD after the initial spending for the SUB and the one and only CLI (10K TO 11K) 3 months after account opening, it has been PCed to Savor then grandfathered into the new Savor but it still sits in SD until Discover's next quarter, your reasoning sounds a lot like another way to say the same thing. Have you been utilizing your current limits?

Re: Capital One CLI

Agree with above poster.

Capital One likes to see a lot of mileage on their cards. I always get the feeling they want me to run my util up to 95% multiple times per month, pay it off and keep using. Or at the very least, run it up to the SL and PIF every month.

Have you been utilizing your current SL?

Re: Capital One CLI

I have been utilizing my current limits actually which is why I’m really surprised, I’ve put a couple grand on them & PIF. I honestly might call in for further explanation on the reasoning behind it. Honestly the first thing that came to my mind was that maybe they’re bracing for a “credit crunch” & possibly re-evaluating account limits to “brace” themselves. I have noticed a lot of CapOne denials lately and they have tightened up the reigns a LOT it seems.

Re: Capital One CLI

Well I called this morning for some clarity on the response I got for CLI. Needless to say I must be loosing my mind with age. Evidently the reason behind it was I already received a CLI in June, I really thought it was in January 🤪. Maybe if they would’ve just started with “hey dummy we did an increase just a couple months ago” it would’ve been better.

Re: Capital One CLI

Cap1 is strict on CLI's only every 6 months. I wish they would state it as well when requesting a CLI but they don't.

Re: Capital One CLI

Cap 1 has been weird lately for me. I no longer get offers when I request a CLI. It now says it will go to review. This last time, they wanted to verify my income. Didn't bother and let the 14 days pass. Tried again tonight, and again it is going to review. It's a bucketed card, so I am not really worried about it at this point since I have Discover and AMEX which are both going to grow without much issue.

Currently rebuilding:

7/19 -
