I know Capital One is more cautious, and they have been with me.
I had my main baddie removed recently, so I got a good increase in my FICO scores. Is there any downside to requesting a CLI with Cap One?
In the past they denied me for not having used the card that much. I use it every month, but just a little, nowhere near the limit. Long ago I used to use it to the limit. Would they automatically deny my CLI for not recently having higher balance, or might they still give me a CLI since my FICO scores are much better?
Also I feel like with my new scores, they might approve a new card for me (although I may wait up to 6 months for other reasons). Would that somehow help me get my old card limit increased? Like, can I transfer part of my CL to the old card?
Which card do you have? If its a bucket card there may not be much movement. Few hundred here and there. They've been known to use older scores.

Actually I don't know. It's 15 years old and the card doesn't say what kind it is. It used to be secured.
Whats the CL? If its low it will stay low. Getting a newer card from Cap1 will be better. But! Its a triple pull. Just be aware.

Thanks for reminding me about the triple-pull. I don't like CapOne but feel stuck since it's my oldest card. I still might just close it at some point.
The old card's limit is $1000. Last time I asked for a CLI they said I hadn't used the CL enough, so it seems like that implies that they would consider a CL if I used it enough. But I am not going to use it for many hundreds of dollars just to have a chance at CLI because it has no cashback or rewards.
Keep trying for the CLI but also put something on auto pay with it. This helped me get a $4k CLI on a $600 Limit Card.
Honestly, CAP1 is great at giving you a fresh start out of financial gloom. Probably one of the best, for those of us that needed a little help getting out of the gate. And as FM, mentioned above... you are probably bucketed. Hence, the CLI's will be very underwhelming if at all. I'm not sure if you PC the card if it will remove your account from the bucket, but I would still check your portal on their site and see if a PC is offered to you. If not, app for another one of their cards with better rewards such as the Walmart card, or even the QS to a lessor extent. I would also consider the amount of inquiries you're already sitting on.
I don't think CAP1 transfers credit limits either. Just an FYI there.
Also, carrying a balance, and utilizing the cards limits are 2 different things completely. They know if you're using the card or not. However, they don't want you to carry a balance either, unless it is very low. Like under 7-8%. In other words... if you are looking to increase your CLI on this specific card, use the heck out of it, pay the balance monthly. And pay it before the statement cuts if you don't want the UTIL to hinder your scores.
Cap One is not known or moving limits otherwise this forum would be ablaze with giddy campers lol. Even on nobucketed cards, Cap One is not easy to secure a cli and most cli we see hover around $100 lol . If your card has no AF, I'd keep it open for it's age, 15 years is really good, put a small charge every couple months for activity. Don't know where your profile is right now but maybe focus on other lenders . There are so many lenders and CUs you can expand your portfolio with and from less hassle, just my 2 cents 😀

$100... LOL, now that is sad.
I dislike CapOne. I definitely have plenty of other options and plenty of other cards, and they upset me for many reasons. I just hate to keep that card (mostly due to the AF and just because I think it looks bad having such a tiny card on there), but hate to close it.
Also because at one point I was over the CL and I think that looks bad upon manual review. Even if it's not supposed to matter, I feel like maybe the reviewer would notice and think it's negative. So I guess I wouldn't mind just a $300 CL increase or $200, but I don't want to spend much on it to get there. (Since they probably wouldn't even give it to me.)

Thanks for the PC idea.
I have a good credit now and am thinking of never using Cap One again for any reason, except that I don't necessarily want to close it and lower my AAoA.
The thing that gives me hope is that they repeatedly told me over and over that my card could not be unsecured for years. That it was just not possible for that card. However, then one day, they unsecured it without my asking. (So maybe they took me out of the bucket?) So now they tell me CLs are not available, but I kind of hoped that one day they would just raise my limit (upon request or automatically). I believe their language changed too. Initially saying CL was not possible. Now saying that I can't get a CL due to utilization being low.
Yeah, I never carry a balance on any of my cards except for like 0.5-2% on one of my highest limit cards. Sorry I said that wrong.
I don't want to use it except for like $10/mo because there's no cashback or rewards.
