Capital One Data Point

Last week I stepped out of the Garden. I went on a small spree. My last application was with CapOne. It was declined. Now, I called in and spoke with the applications department. The nice lady informed me my application was not approved due to their newly implemented "6 month rule" (went into this knowing the possibility I was a bit shy of this time frame) and specifically mentioned to me that no inquiry on my credit report had been made. So nothing interesting there. What happened next is strange, however.

i apped on 9/18 and on 9/22 get an alert  that I had a inquiry on my TU report. I thought it strange the alert showed a HP on just my TU, but nowhere else. Next morning, another alert. This time HP on EX. Well, later today I get an alert from myfico of a HP on EQ. So I call up Cap One. Service Rep. Hears my question, that being about why is cap one pulling my credit... He replies that he has no idea. He even informs me he sees no new accounts on my profile and no recent applications. He places me on a brief hold to call over to what he referred to as "partnership". The rep comes back, says they have no record of any applications on thier side either. He tells me this is a matter for the applications dept. and I can call them on Monday.

Now let me add another twist to all this. I apped for Quicksilver One on 9/18, Same day I called to check on my denial. Incidentally, my statement close date on my current capital one card is always the 22nd. The first HP showed up on my TU report during the evening of 9/22. I event went as far the ask the guy At Cap One earlier, while I had him on the phone, if he was seeing a CLI on my current card? He said no. I then confirmed with him that a CLI is a SP. he said yes. Always.

Anyone know what might have happened here??

On on a side note, my current card with Cap. One is a Platinum MasterCard (secured) and my 5TH. Statement was cut on 9/22.

Re: Capital One Data Point

Im only chiming in here so that I may follow the replies to your post.

I hate when whacko things like this happen and how they mostly occur on right before the weekend and having to wait until Monday! Maybe that is why Monday's are considered the yuckiest day of the week.  Please keep us posted...

Re: Capital One Data Point

Could be that the app did go through even though it wasn't supposed to due to the 6 mth rule and that it got declined ? Hate to see this happen regardless as I know how crucial these HP can be when we are repairing and building credit .

Re: Capital One Data Point

*Update*

I received an email today. The standard electronic prompt to "sign in, receive more info on your recent app" blah..blah..

So I signed in & it says the whole "denied to to a recent or pending application...no affect to your credit file" (paraphrased btw) mumbo jumbo. So hmmm... can't wait to call on Monday and speak with someone.
