I applied for a CLI yesterday on the quicksilver, CL currently sitting at 500. The denial letter says "Recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too low". Sounds like they want me to nearly max it out every month before approving an increase. Any advice?

I've seen this message before and I've interpreted it to mean that the card is probably bucketed and won't be eligible for much of a CL in the future. Guessing that's the case here if you were given a $500 CL initially. What was your credit like when you applied ?
I'm currently rebuilding my credit. I've paid off several COs within the past 2 yrs but they don't delete until 2025. All 3 CCs are reporting postively, Platinum 300, QS 500, and Discover 1200. Personal and current auto loan are also reporting positively however I do have a previous repo I'm paying down.
FICO scores:
EQ: 650
TU: 668
EX: 646

@sillysilkyI would get this message or a message similiar to it on My Capital One Walmart card. I had a 3000 limit asked for a CLI 4000. I closed the card applied for a similiar credit card at a credit union and received a credit limit 3X Capital One. You may want to consider looking at a local credit union you may be able to better than Capital One.
@AndySoCal that's funny you mentioned credit union, I've been looking at those for bit - Thanks!!

If you use low, they would say low usage, but if you do high then they would deny you by saying too much usage close to CL...You will NEVER be able to get CLI on this card. Period. 11 yrs and 300 times I have requested on my this card, I got not even one CLI in 11 yrs despite of heaving using this card...

When I got my bucketed QS, I put a good $1K/month on it, making a mid-cycle payment, waited for seven statements to cut, asked for a CLI, and was told "account to new". So I did the same thing for another six full months and tried again. Denied for "usage too low". Started putting $2K+/month on the card and waited another six months, denied again for "usage too low".
My scores are in the high 700s and I've never been late or missed a payment, no BKs, etc.
Take that C1 card of yours, put a $1/month amazon auto-refill on it, enable autopay, and then literally throw it in a sock drawer to help with your AAoA, AoAA, etc. and check back again in 8-10 years. Still no CLI, cancel it.
Sorry for your denial. Like others have stated, and from personal experience, a bucket card gets few CLI. Your scores and current CC line up will improve. Good luck!
@elboullee thats the plan, looks like I'll throw a couple of subscriptions on it and leave in the drawer, thanks !

@sillysilkyOn the consumer finance board there is post entitled American Consumer Council. This is a list of credit unions you can join by being a member of the American Consumer Council. In some cases the credit union will pay the cost for you. As full disclosure I am the one who posted it. I have joined three or four credit unions this way.
