Capital One Pre-Quailify

How often does the Capital One pre-approval update. If you check it today and it say's no offers available, then check it tomorrow and it says you have 2 matches. Should you check every day or once a month?

they soft-pull your reports for that, so it will change as often as your report data changes I would imagine

I'd say many (if not most) on here actually get approved for Cap1 QS1 and Platinum CC's without having what you would think is a true offer. I never had (and even don't today) an offer come up.

I wrote a full post on how this works; http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebuilding-Your-Credit/No-Offer-Cap1-Pre-qual-site/m-p/4484934

I have both CC's and just got CLI's on each for $1000 tonight and still have no formal "Offer" available.

You are safe to app them because if you are denied you get no HP. They only HP if you fill out the full app and submit it. You won't be taken to the app page if you are denied so it is a win-win. IF you get it great and you take the HP's if no, no harm, no foul!!!

Re: Capital One Pre-Quailify

Thanks for the info. I have the QS and Platnium card, but i recentely upgraded both of them to Venture one cards. I have a Barclay's card that I use and get cash back, so I wanted the miles from CAP 1. I was just hoping i would get an offer for Venture card, so that i could earn 2x the miles.

Wait.. How can you app and no get a HP. You mean fill out the prequalify page, right? I just app'd the QS1 and Platinum for my mom a few days ago and there was no pre-app, it was the prequal, clicked apply and then submit.

Re: Capital One Pre-Quailify

I don't know about that. I applied and was denied and got a hard pull. After I was denied I had to go the secured route so that could be the hard pull that is showing. It's mind boggling though that I have nothing on my record and can't get a card, but people here have all sorts of baddies and get approved no problem.

Just wanted folks to know that you absolutely can get denied, so it's not a recommendation I would make if you aren't pre approved.

Re: Capital One Pre-Quailify

He definitely didn't state that correctly at all.
He meant to say fill out the prequal, it doesn't hurt you. If it says pre-qualified fill out the app, you'll likely get it. If not, don't app and you won't get hard pulls.
Sorry about that, I'm sure he meant no harm and knew what he meant to say and just didn't state it correctly. Good luck on your growth and don't fret it too much. In six months to a year your scores are gonna be way better than anyone with bad marks(including myself).
