Capital One Question

So I currently have 3 capital one cards: QuicksilverOne ($500) QuicksilverOne (originally Platinum $2300) and Playstation Visa ($500) the second QuicksilverOne is the only one with a somewhat decent limit after credit steps and about 9 months of being open. I've checked the prequal site and don't have any offers, but attempting to cold app on more than one occassion and always get the "Unfortunately...blah blah blah" but I never get any HP and when I check my app status from the email there are no documents. I've seen others with like 5 CapOne cards but seems like I can't even get any consideration for another. Should I close the two $500 limit cards and then attempt? Any experiences with this?

Goal Scores - 720 across the board
Current Utilization - 12% and going down

Re: Capital One Question

Well, I have a $3300 QS1 which was upgraded from Plat as well, and another $500 QS1 in credit steps still, so I may be of use to you.

Which card are you applying for?

If it's another QS1 or Plat, you're limited to 2 cards between them and will be auto-denied due to this (to my understanding, but judging by your scores, you shouldn't want another one of those anyways..)

Re: Capital One Question

Don't close em. What does your file look like?  Is it thin or have a short credit history? If you have some decent accounts maybe wait 6 months, and try for Venture. As you know with Cap One those starter cards will only grow so much then you need to advance to the next level.

Re: Capital One Question

Did Capital One do the upgraded card without a hard pull?

Re: Capital One Question

You can only have 2 sub-prime aka average credit products.. This is probably why you are getting the message and no HP's.. Have you tried to apply for the regular QS and or venture?  I believe you can have 5 cap1 cards total..  2 sub-prime and 3 prime.  Someone correct me if I am wrong

Re: Capital One Question

I just talked with Capital One and I was approved for a card upgrade without a hard credit pull. They gave me the venture.

Anyone not wanting an extra credit pull, talk with your current company to see if they can do the same.

Re: Capital One Question

I had (I closed my secured card today) 1 secured acct. 3 QS1 accts (1 was PC'd from a platinum) and 1 Venture. So if I'm right I'm currently holding 3 sub-prime accounts and 1 prime account.

And once I get my Rewards on my Venture I hope to add a VentureOne. Mostly for the intro 0%.
