Hey all,
My wife got a letter from Cap One yesterday for the Quicksilver with a fixed rate in the offer 0% for 15 months. Question is, she burned Cap One in a divorce over 14 years ago and payed off her auto loan etc. Has not reestablished since has basically been a ghost everything has been in my name.. I have her on a secured card through our CU for ayear now, and she is an auth user on my Chase Freedom.
Question is, does Quicksilver do a credit steps program or is it possibly going to be at a higher SL? The letter did say "make your first 5 payments on time and qualify for higher limit".. I know when I was rebuilding I got the standard Platinum and had to go through credit steps. She just got approved for the Slate card but only a measly &$700 SL.. What do you think?? I dont think I'd waste the triple pull for $500.
Hello @Rentitguy! I would most likely say that your wife is going to get a low limit ($500 - $1000) with the credit steps enrollment. It will be good for her credit history, which will possibly allow for approvals with higher limits down the road!
what are her scores? cap1 is so forgiving!!! they could careless about 14 years ago.
I rebuilt/am rebuilding -
Got Cap One QS with a $500 limit - credit steps - I will come up on my 3rd statement cut next month.
My husband got in with either Plat or QS (cant remember because he got one and denied the other....) Anyway - he got Credit steps and $300 limit.

What are the limits on the CU card and your Freedom card. What are her 3 Fico 8 scores and her utilization?
My DW and I have done wonders going the au route. We started with being au's on my elderly moms $600 Wal Mart and $750 Cap One card 6/2014 plus an FNBO card I am an au on since 9/14, to what you see in my siggy now, and the DW is just a few accounts short of me.
You see my personal Quicksilver is only at $1300. Started at $300 with 2 $500 increases.Account opened 3/15 and was a preapproval. No luck with EO twice.
My point is, if you can roll over 3-4 of your accounts with low utilization and good history/limits, you could open the door for her to get some cards other than Capital One with one pull and higher limits if you are strategic.
Capital One many times likes to start people at the bottom even if their scores are in the upper 600's or low 700's. They are a quirky bank.

It's been a while but that sounds like credit steps to me. A lot of those (mine included) start off at $500, but the credit steps can vary--some people get only $250, others get a lot more. Mine went $500 to $750 with credit steps and later I got a SP CLI (clicked the link) to get it to $2250 so, even if it does start at $500 I wouldn't necessarily resign to it being a waste personally.

Sounds like a QuicksilverOne offer, not a standard Quicksilver.
