On the pre-approval tool, for Venture X, I always get the decline, and for any of the other cards, it's always without the welcome offers. I did get a card with Capital One at the beginning of 2021 and closed it within 12 months.
For the Venture X pre-approval, I get the specific message of "too many open revolving accounts" and have seen some mention their worries about just being a churner. As it has been almost 2 years since I closed my last card, when I get past the 6-month mark of my most recent inquiry and opened a revolver account, is there anything else I can do to get into their good graces?

how many inquires? what's your total number of revovlving accounts? what's your revovlving accounts in: /6, /12, /24?
EX INQ: 8 in last year
EQ INQ: 1 in last year
TU INQ: 2 in last year
Total revolving is about 13.
1/6, 3/12, 6/24

I got approved for the VX but I froze my TU which had 10 inqs from a truck purchase. They're likely seeing your EX inqs and denying. Try freezing your EX and go from there.
what's your utiliztion?
cap one likes util. they don't seem to like a bunch of cards opened that have a zero balance.

This is a long way off for me because to get approved for the Venture X you need Cap1's definition of excellent credit(I’ve never declared bankruptcy or defaulted on a loan; I haven’t been more than 60 days late on any credit card, medical bill, or loan in the last year; I’ve had a loan or credit card for 3 years or more with a credit limit above $5,000.)
My question is if I was doing AZEO should I not do that for 1 month before applying for the Venture X? Basically should I leave small balances showing on my credit reports because as you said Cap1 likes that? I'm confused.
I'm also depressed because I'm 2 months into my credit journey and have 4 cards with very small limits. It's probably gonna take me 18-24 months to finally get a credit card with a $5000 CL or more. Then according to Cap1 I need to have that card for at least 3 years before I can apply for the Venture X smh. So I guess for me it'll probably take me 5 years to meet their qualifications.
@MikeyMagicTime is your friend, but Capital One will bend on appovals occasionally. I got my VX before I was 2 yrs into my rebuild (granted I waited 4 yrs after filing a BK7 to start rebuilding). It was the minimum CL at $10k, but for most of my rebuild Capital One has been getting significant spend and I've not paid them any interest so I think that was a factor. I also don't have a ton of cards. This was card 5 and that's more than enough for me at this point.
Currently, I put up to 29% on 2 cards and my AU (I don't use the card) is about 30% putting me at 13%. It's brought my score down and hoping that does something to be seen as profitable.
dude Im stumped on the pre approvals with them too. they pre approve me for everything but the last itme I went for their pre approval, they put me through crazy hoops and I dont wnt that drama in my life lol. That venture card was useless as ti+s on a boar for me. Hope it would be good for you.
ive been reading on reddit that if you apply for the Excellent Version of a given Cap One card, they will show you which one they will approve you for in that line up.. you might not get the SUB, but it may be a way to get into the Venture Lineup?
@youngandcreditwrthyThe only Venture offered in a no sub version is VentureOne. Is that the one you're referring to? I would agree that card is pretty useless. I had it for 6 months when it was my only PC option to get rid of a QS1 and the $39 AF. After those 6 months PCed again to QS. I also don't think Cap One will normally allow VentureOne to get a PC any of the other Venture cards with it being MC while the others are Visa. I think it can usually only PC to QS (in rare instances SavorOne has been an option).
