My application for a Capital one venture was denied.
Here is part of the letter I received:
The reason(s) for our decision are:
• Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, there are
too many active credit cards based on your loan history
• Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, there are
too many new revolving accounts

I would like to reapply in 3 months and half. Do you think I have a chance to get approved? Is there something I could do in the meantime?

Garden in meanttime then try pre-approval before taking the triple hit as you just did. Their prequal is pretty dang solid. Appears you have gotten 5 cards in the last year. Cap1 doesn't like giving away bonuses for ppl with a lot of recent credit approvals. Based off all the cards in your signature and want for Venture I am guessing you are going after bonuses and I don't blame you, but they know the game as well ![]()
before applying, I tried their pre-approval, and I was pre-approved. The problem is that I was pre-approved for other Capital One cards, not the venture I was looking for.

It will show the venture if pre-approved for it next time.. Lay off the apps until you are are likely 1/12 or 2/12 and try pre-qual again. What cards did it show? As venture and venture x have the biggest subs likely why denied
My two cents don't care for the earning prospects of the cap one venture, did they preapproved you for the cap one savor cards if you spend in those bonus categories can rack up some decent points and later get a cap one venture one to transfer to
What does "Lay off the apps until you are are likely 1/12 or 2/12" mean?
I forgot what cards it showed, I was only looking for the Venture.

It means to not apply for new cards until you are 1 or 2 new cards within the last 12 month time period.
