Capital One denial

I recently applied for a capitol one card and was denied the denial letter said to many inquiries. I am trying to build my credit again and could really use some help as how to get this done

Re: Capital One denial

How many inquiries do you have?  Try to provide as much info as possible if you want the people here to give some recommendations.  Sorry to hear about the denial.

Re: Capital One denial

Cap 1 is the most trigger happy to hard pull but are also first to be inquiry sensitive...

Re: Capital One denial

Ouch. With the lower scores along with the high number of inquiries any approvals aren't likely until several of the HP's come off and the rest age a little.

You need positive tradelines to manage in order to show creditors you can responsiby handle multiple accounts. Not sure how your finances are currently but if you can swing a smallish ($200 or so) secured card the OpenSky is a SP and will give you the card regardless of credit standing so long as you have a bank account to link and the funding. You also may be a prime candidate for a shopping cart trick card. There's plenty of info on these boards about SCT cards.

Lastly, before you take my advice, drop into the "Rebuilding Credit" section and ask the folks there. Those guys and girls are pretty flipping good at getting people back on track.

From one vet to another, thanks for your service and good luck in life and your credit rebuild.

I see. You may need to go for a secured card or a QS1. Try the pre-approval page perhaps or call them. Veteran eh?  I would try to get in with Navy Federal CU. Plenty of info on this site about that. SinjCeridan has some good info above too. Best of luck. ☺

Re: Capital One denial

Navy Fed *might* entertain a secured card for you.... even with those scores...

And they are a good bank to have a relationship with....

And it *will* graduate..

Re: Capital One denial

The credit scores that you listed- were those from Credit Karma or a different site like MyFICO? If from the latter, I would recommend getting updated FICO scores from all three credit bureuas like MyFICO or CCT in addition to the secured card from OpenSky.

FICO 8 (Feb 2018):EX- 519, TU- 530, EQ- 545
FICO 8 (Sept 2022):EX- 706, TU- 685, EQ- 684
What's in my wallet:
