Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
With Capital One you have to first determine if you have been bracketed. If you have, you can make $1 Million in income and have an 850 score and they won't raise your limit much or at all. Only thing to do is apply for a new card if you have not already reached your two card limit(limit does not apply to co-branded or business products). If you have NOT been bracketed, then they respond well to heavy spend..30-50% of the card then PIF. OR if you are already carrying a balance, make HUGE payments. You need to PIF or make huge payments for 3 months I've found then they often respond. I've been on all sides of the fence with Cap1. The only guarantee is that you will earn whatever they give you and it will cost frustration so patience is required or forget it.
Cap One limit is 5 cards of which 2 can be starter cards.
I have had 5 cards at one time before.

I have 5 Capital One cards. 2 Business Spark cards, a Buy Power, and 2 Quicksilvers.
I applied for the Venture and was immediately denied with no HP. Capital One told me I had a limit of 2 Capital One branded cards.....co-branded(buypower) and the business cards do not count toward the limit.
Perhaps I was given bad information and the real reason I was declined was because I had 5 cards total? I don't know. Just providing the data points I had.

Every time I ask for a CLI it's some crap reason that doesn't make sense. As a matter of fact, they totally removed the request CLI option on my account. lol!! That card is now in the SD and will remain there.
If your score is really 100 points higher than it was when you opened the card and you have a decent income, you could just apply for another Cap One card and get one in a higher tier. Cards have glass ceilings. I would not be suprised if your new card was $10,000 SL or higher.
I apped for a Venture in July and was denied because "no mortgage history" and too many inq's. I don't think they like me lol. It's ok though I burned them years ago when I was a teenager, they were gracious enough to give me my first CC when I was rebuilding. ![]()
Did you look at prequal page?
If so, I would just keep looking as inquiries fall off.
I burned them too; they are very forgiving.

I have never burned Capital One and have been a cardholder for over 20 years. When I had a nuclear meltdown and burned everyone else 10 years ago, I kept Capital One intact and never missed a payment on their cards (yes really). My picture should be hanging in the Capital One Executive Office. But instead, I am still stuck with starter cards I got a hundred years ago because I have "reached my limit of cards", and I can't get a decent credit increase on those....all regardless of my income, credit record, or high credit scores. And I can't close the old ones because my AAoA would vanish.
What's the moral of the story??? Better to burn Capital One and then start over with better cards? Apparently so. But no longer an option for me. But we all have banks who don't like us and if we are lucky we have banks who do like is. Such is life. Life is okay now, I'm not complaining.
You dont get better cards when you burn them.
You get better cards when you apply for them after mproving your scores dramatically from when you opened your starter cards.
I opened 6 cards over the last 4 years. One 3k became 3.5k, one 3k became $12.5k, one $1.5k stayed $1.5k.
Once my CLI stopped and my credit improved, I closed the low limit ones as I got approved for better ones. I ended up with 4 good ones (10k+) and combined to make 2 great ones (20k+).
I spent a ton, paid a ton, then got a fanastic one ($30k at 13.9%)
YMMV
