Hi thanks for looking. In late Janaury I was approved for a Quicksilver card for good credit, with a 2.5k limit. I haven't used it much, but have put a few hundred dollars through and made several early payments.
I want the Venture X card, but have been expecting it to be many months or possibly years of patience before it could happen.
Today though I received an email saying "Dear Mister - You’ve been a great Capital One customer, so we’re inviting you to apply for the Spark 1.5% Cash Select business card." Further down in the email it says "About this message - This is a card for people with excellent credit."
I have very little experience of receiving emails like this from US financial institutions, so am left wondering whether this means they now consider me to have excellent credit according to their own criteria, or that it's just a general promotional email that get sents to all or most customers who are in good standing regardless of how Capital One judges their excellent/good etc. level, or perhaps something else altogether?

it's just general marketing based on you already being a customer with them. the email doesn't mean anything about your likelihood of approval.
cap1 added a biz pre-approval tool, no personal credit impact to check if pre-approved, possible biz credit impact to see if you are pre-approved, if you apply as a corporation/llc
https://www.capitalone.com/apply/small-business/preapprove/all/
know that unless it's one of the charge card products VX biz/Spark Cash Plus, the card will report to your personal credit, this differs from most banks with their business credit products don't report to personal credit
do you want the Venture X? or the Biz Venture X?
here is the pre-approval for the personal Venture X
https://www.capitalone.com/apply/credit-cards/preapprove/venture-x/
they send you helpful denial letters (emailed) if not pre-approved to show you why you weren't pre-approved, help lets you know where you're at in terms getting approved in the future
