I know pre-qualifies are to be taken as is, as nothing is guaranteed. Except maybe Chase as I hear those are pretty golden.
But I check the Capital One pre-qualify regularly, especially for the DW as she is almost "clean" report wise. Was able to get Utility down overall and saw an upward trend in scores. Well today for the first time it actually came up with offers and not recommended. I know there has been a recent "craze" for Capital One with amazing approvals for the Venture/Venture One cards. This has seemed to subside a little, but just wondering if their site is pretty on point?
Her AAoA is around 3 years, 635+ across all CRA's, one collection on TU, a few between EQ and EX all over 6 years old, few Comenity cards, NFCU goRewards, Cap 1 Secured at $750 and QS1 at $1750 (recently CLI last month of 1k), and INQ 6 TU and EQ and 1 EX. Oh and util about 19% on 34k in lines.
We are looking for a travel/hotel type card along with qualifying for the AARP (fits needs very well) and we are starting to travel more and will in the future.
Beyond the hype should she try?
Thanks for any advice!!
You are going to get many opinions on this one, but I think whatever she got recommended for she will be good to go. I say go for it, I don't think you will be disappointed. As you know not a lock, but a good indication and with her growth, I would feel good about the chances! Good Luck!

I may be one of the very few on here who say that Capital One is the best! So if you want a travel card, the venture's are pretty damn good. It's unlikely that she will qualify for a AMEX or CSP and the like in the near term, so take advantage while you can. Cap One is agreat company to grow with!

Just wanted to update.
Decided not to pull any triggers quite yet. Going to let an Amex that DW is an ACM on report first. It will go from 5400/6000 to 0/6000. Due date on it is 3/9 so it should update around there. It will take util down to approx 5%. As balances continue to report major util changes her scores are improving. Got an update between yesterday and today about score jumps. These are all FICO scores - EQ 630 (2/28) TU 664 (2/26) EX 652 (2/27).
Since the 21st of Feb her EQ has jumped 14, TU 24 and EX 24 respectively. I assume at least another small bump when the Amex reports...then the spree - I hope, starts LOL.
I will try and keep updated for yall....if ya want to know that is ![]()
And thanks for the suggestions and info!!
