Capital one Prequalification

I tried the Capital One prequalification tool, but was denied. It says my Experian score was 587. On Experian app and myFICO it says my score is 645 and 652 on experian? Any ideas?

Re: Capital one Prequalification

I have read some posts that cap one uses scores from months before. Maybe someone has a better answer.

Re: Capital one Prequalification

In my past experience they have quoted me the EX FICO 3 score which is always quite a bit lower than all my other FICO scores

Re: Capital one Prequalification

Capital One prequal is junk anyway. They also use "mortgage scores" instead of something like a FICO 8, 9 or a Bankcard score. That's why you are seeing the lower EXP score in their denial reasoning. Don't let it worry you. It's just Cap1 being Cap1.

Re: Capital one Prequalification

My understanding is that they often but not always use EQ5, TU4, and EX3 (the latter not being a mortgage score...EX2 is the mortgage one at least for now till 10T gets baked in).  I've also seen sporadic DPs of people getting denials based on a FICO8 score.  So crazy it seems...
