Capital one application?

hi all,

I was wondering if there was a certain amount of time you should wait until you reapply for a capital one card after a denial?

Hi JT,

I was stuck on getting started at cap 1. Can't even remember why.

They are very good at giving inquiries.

3 AT A TIME!!

So I applied to other cards with good results.

If your scores are decent you will be fine.

Move on....

Good luck

Re: Capital one application?

Guess i will try again after my utilization goes down a bit, its currently at 35%. Credit Karma says my odds for approval are fair but website cant find a prequalified offer for me. Whats wierd is up to this point it would always say i am prequalified for a secured card but now it cant find an offer for me even though my scores have improved.

Re: Capital one application?

Cap 1 was my first app last year. I cold apped for the secured card (right before I joined this comnunity). Funny thing is I apped for the QS1 a couple months later and got approved. I think that was six HPs within 90 days and... Yeah I'm getting sad thinking aboit it.

Yeah they love dealing out HPs. Hehe.

3B profile optimization in progress...

Just so you know, CK is NOT the place you should be getting your financial advice from. They get paid for attracting new customeers.

Your UTI has nothing to do with an approval with Cap1. If your TU score is above 550 you should get the Plat and QS1. Many here, including me, never got a pre-qual OFFER on these 2 CC's but got them anyway. It shouldn't be an HP if you were denied so I'd give it a shot again if your score is there.

Re: Capital one application?

Thanks for the advice, i am def thinking about pulling the trigger. I have also had a secured card with them for 11 months now. I have always paid on time. My Fico Scores are

trans 610, Exp 607, and equifax is my lowest at 575. The score on the creditwise tracker from my secure card shows 589.

That changes things then.

You will probably only get one of the two CC's. In that case (it is my opinion that) you should app the Platinum first then try the QS1. The reason is that you will be able to PC the Plat in a month or so to a Quicksilver Rewards MC with $0 AF and 1.5% cash back on all purchases and request a CLI at around the 60day mark. The QS1 takes 6mths to PC.

Re: Capital one application?

Is it the 575 equifax that changes things?

NO!

It's the fact that you have a Cap1 Secured card. Most people can't have the secured AND get both Plat & QS1. Usually they have to close the secured to get the second CC.
