Chances of Amex approval

I pulled my 3b report on myfico yesterday and had scores of 663 ex 686 tu 690 eq

The EX (which it seems amex likes) had 2 collections listed, I disputed them both. One has already been removed. The one that is still being investigated is $303. Outside of that, I have a few lates from 2012 or older and I have a paid walmart charge off from 2013.

util is 22%

I did check for the prequal and got nothing. But that may be because I have fraud alerts. idk. Do you think I have a chance? If so, which card would you try?

Starting Score (Oct '13): 473 (EX), Current Score: MyFICO EX: 713 EQ: 715 TU: 717, Goal Score: 740 & above. Capital One Quicksilver: $2250, Discover IT: $9500, Chase Amazon Store Card: $2600, Care Credit: $15000, Barclays Rewards: $1850 BCE: 20,000, PenFed Visa Sig: 7,000 NFCU cashRewards $24,600

I think you have a chance but it would be best if you can reduct your utilization to 10% for a better chance.

American Express: Platinum Charge, Optima, Business Gold, Delta Business Reserve, Business Cash, Business Plus
Barclays: Arrival+ WEMC
Capital One: Savor WEMC, Venture X Visa Infinite
Chase: Freedom U Visa Signature, CSR Visa Infinite
Citibank: AAdvantage Platinum WEMC
Elan/US Bank: Fidelity Visa Signature
Credit Union: Cash Back Visa Signature
FICO 08: Score decrease between 26-41 points after auto payoff (11.01.21) FICO as of 12.24, EX: 813 / EQ: 825 / TU: 818

Re: Chances of Amex approval

Thank you! I originally planned to do that but im getting antsy lol. I haven't apped for anything in years. But I don't want it to be for no reason so I should probably listen.

Bring your util ratio down to <10% first. I have 7 collections on my name when I got my Delta Platinum. Get the card that will have more benefit for you. All AMEX cards will say it require Good/Excellent scores. They will pull EX.

Re: Chances of Amex approval

I wouldn't worry about the pre-app on the site.  It never worked for me for over 10 years and ended up cold apping and ended up with an instant approval.  The goal is to get your foot in the door and it shouldn't be a problem.  You can always bring up your limit on day 61 and after that every 6 months as your scores come up and the dirt drops off.

Re: Chances of Amex approval

My advice to 99 out of 100 OPs of "what are my approval chances" threads is DON'T APPLY.  Not yet.  Chances are if you're starting such a thread, your scores are on the cusp meaning that you have both a possibility for denial and a possibility upon approval of receiving a very small SL.  I always sugguest waiting another 3-6 months and if your profile/score improves to take you off the "cusp" then go ahead and app.  I also recommend looking at the credit pulls database to see where you stand relative to others that have been approved/denied for the card that you're interested in.
