What does it mean if I received this message after applying with chase for a credit card ?

Upon my my app, I received this message..
* We have received your request for a Chase credit card. We'll let you know our decision by U.S. mail .
This could take up to 30 days.
Thank you for choosing chase.

* I also received an email from Chase stating that they will let me know in 30 days.

* I called the status line about one our later and the robo lady said....
Thank you for applying, your application is being reviewed. You will me notified of our decision in 7-10 buisness days in writing.

What do you guys think of my chances of being approved ?

Re: Chase 7-10 day message

30 day switching to 7-10 is usually a denial

Re: Chase 7-10 day message

OP—Based on general Chase data points and knowing nothing more, I would suspect a denial. Your portfolio appears pretty solid, but your specific data points may help determine more. At this point, I would see no harm in trying to speak directly with a CSR and try to recon if it is, in fact, a denial.

I amiably disagree—the OP has 20k exposure with chase and 4k exposure elsewhere outside of CUs and store cards.

Chase probably thinks the op is at Max exposure with them. I wouldn't recon that

Re: Chase 7-10 day message

I applied to the Amazon visa signature and had the same 30 days -> 7-10 days message. It turned out that Chase wanted to verify my address, because I applied to the card after I moved to another city shortly. Maybe they just want more information from you too.

Re: Chase 7-10 day message

I would call the BD# and Inquire asking if they needed anymore information from you. If they say no, its was denied, then recon right there. I always recon apps if they were denied. I don't care what the reason is, you never know that denial could turn into an approval.

Re: Chase 7-10 day message

Does getting the 7-10 day message instantly after applying usually mean denial? When I applied for the CSP last tuesday(10/10) I got the 30 day email message and when I checked the automated status line it gave me the 2 week message up until today(10/15) were its now the 7-10 day message.

Not in all instances, but potentially that can be the case.  You could contact them directly using the BD# to find out or wait for the letter and go from there. .

Sorry for the dumb question but I see this posted all the time and never know what it means.  What is a BD# and how do I find it?
