Has anyone got the travel version recently?
My AARP card is above all one of my favorite cards to use. I just recently met the sign up bonus on it and got $116 cashback total. It's really easy to rack up rewards with it considering all the eating and gas pumping I do and it's put my Arrival from Barclays to shame which is why that card is in the SD right now. Also I got some pretty good APR terms and 0 intro offer on the card as well. I have never once gotten a look from anyone when I pull out the card and use it or any questions about why someone so young like me has a card like that in the first place. My Ritz card on the other hand people have really noticed.
I imagine if I had a Sallie Mae Mastercard, people's reactions to me having that would be similar to me having an AARP.
I just got my AARP card in the mail yesterday and it's actually gorgeous! Nice, shiny silver strip on thecorner, and looks like a pretty fancy card. I was expecting something lackluster so it was a nice surprise.
After reading this thread, my interest has been piqued in this AARP card. Specifically for the 3% cash back in dining. When I read about this card previously, I quickly dismissed it because I'm not quite old enough to obtain an AARP membership, but now I see that's not required. I find it interesting that you don't need an AARP membership to obtain this card. In the same way that I find it interesting that you don't have to be a student with a Sallie Mae loan to obtain the Sallie Mae credit card (a good interesting though!). I'll have to give this card more consideration later this year when my credit reports are squeaky clean (assuming that it is still available with the same reward structure then).

Well I'm a mere 5 yrs away from being able to join AARP.Seems just yesterday I was a spring chicken!!
Heehee, already a member. But there is links out there for intro 0% rate and 100 cash back after spending 500. I would personally try to latch on to that offer. After get sallie Mae (knock wood) by year end, will start playing apply and move limits around with chase cards in 2016. Right now, just want to work with my new cards, cull in march, and get Discover IT + Sallie Mae towards end of year.

After reading this thread, I'm fighting the urge to want to app for this card. I have a good relationship with Chase as I've banked with them for many years and I'm fairly certain I would be approved without issue. The only thing that gives me pause is that I don't know if I would see much benefit from using this card over cards I already have. I use Sallie Mae for gas (5%) and I have the (nerfed) Cash + that gets me 5% back on fast food purchases and 2% on restaurants, which means I would only be gaining 1% back depending on where I'm eating. If Cash + continues its downward spiral, I may just have to go for this one though.
I like that you can redeem cash with this one at $20 like the Freedom card.
That's the Link ![]()
I always seem to find myself in these awkward situations. Gotta try again for Sallie Mae first, then either way may make for this AARP 3% er! A nice addition with a sign-up Bonus!
