My husband and I are working on paying off our credit card bills and building up our credit scores. We have four cards total with two at zero balance as of 11/2/21. And, one car loan which we have $11,000 left to pay off.
I have (2) capital one cards with a $750.00 credit limit (journey) which hasn't increased since I had it about 4 years now. The other one has increase from $500.00 (starting credit limit) to $2,500.00. I had two collections which I was able to get one removed and now working on the last one.
My husband has (1) Capital one card which started at $1,000 and now is $3,600.00 (as of 11/3/21) . And, he has a Discover card ($1,000) starting limit; which is now $1600.00. He has received an offer from Chase for their Chase Freedom Unlimited - $2,000 credit limit.
Is this a good offer?
We are new to understanding credit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Where did you see this offer?
My husband saw the offer when logged into his Chase checking account.
@Anonymous Can you clarify what do you mean by "good offer"
Are you wondering about starting limit or something else?
CFU is decent card especially since they revamped it a bit, and right now it's a great offer because it has 5% back on groceries during first year ( I believe it's maxed at $12,000 in spend), 3% dining and drugstores, so it wouldn't be just another 1.5% card
As far as starting limit, it's good. He only has one card with higher limit than that, but since limit isnt too high, there is a possibility of auto CLI if there is decent use on it
If it displays as a green star or black star pre-approved offer (under the "Just for you" section), it's as good as golden, OP.

Sorry about that! Yes, for starting limit?

It's very much in line with his other cards, so I'd say yes.
It's not very high, but it will do the job.

Yes, I would say it's a step up. It's a premium card from a premium bank.
And if it says he's preapproved under the "Just for You" offers, then he has a good chance of being approved.

Last week my husband logged into his Chase checking account and had an offer from Chase. It said he was "already approved for the Chase Freedom Unlimited SL- $2,000. Since he only has one Capital One and Discover card, we thought getting a Chase card offer was great. It had the green star and so he went for it. This is where the smiley face turned to a frown. Chase said they will let him know of their decision in 30 days. Now, he has a hp on his credit report. I guess he has to work harder on his score which he has been doing. What a bu
I hope he gets approved! Good luck!
