I would like to apply for the Chase Amazon Prime card, but I don't want an unnecessary hp if I'm going to get denied. I did the pre-qual thing and got the go ahead.
i also wouldn't mind the ally cash back card.
Current:
ex: 686
eq: 692
tu: 682 (out of date. should be about 700)
2 late payments on Apple over 2 years old. 53% util

prime visa is just one you're going to have to risk a HP on if you want it
prime visa is the easiest chase card to get and being pre-qualified is a good sign, what's your 5/24 currently (number of new credit card accounts on your credit report in the last 2 years)

My most recent card is about 5 years old, so I guess my 5/24 is zero. I also have no inquiries on any of my files.

Do you have any derogs (especially a BK) still reporting or prior bad history with either Chase or a company they later merged with Chase like for example WaMu or Providian? A BK reporting won't stop a preapproval but has a very high probability of derailing an approval even if Chase wasn't IIB and they have a very long memory even when the problem was with a with an acquisition dating from before Chase absorbed them.
I looked back and the only other things are a couple lates on a previous mortgage, 1/20 and 3/20.

I'd get the utilization under 49% before applying. 29% would be even better.
Ok, will do. Thank you

As everyone else has said, lower your utilization and you'll have a good chance of getting approved. I am probably also going to apply for it relatively soon, so make sure you post here if you are denied or in the credit card approval section if you get approved. The DP's will be helpful.

I was approved for $1k last week after prequalifying. New York resident DP's:
I received a double pull, EX and TU.
My utilization was over 50%.
TU had 10 INQ.
EX had 5 INQ.
FICO Scores for both 650-669 range.
Honestly I don't even know how I was approved!!
