Were you prequalified and still turned down? I am prequalified and was probably going to go for it in September but I am over 5/24 and if their preqaul isn't legit then I would rather not take a swing right now. I already have their Store Card.

FWIW, I was prequalified and still denied with a young/thin file with the cited reasons of account age/number accounts (2 total accounts age 4 and 17 mo....which should have been known to them for the prequalify.)  I seem to be the exception to the rule, and my situation is definitely different from being over 5/24, but my DP suggests at least one scenario whre prequal is debatable in reliability.

About the ads, did you notice a point at which the ads went away after applying, and then returned, or did they never just go away (and did you cold app, or app from a prequal?)

I'm trying to read the stars to figure out my own app, and at almost a week with no word, I'm assuming it's a denial. But one tiny ray of hope is that the ads for the card were replaced with ads for the store card and the business card right after apping.  So far, it's still showing those ads and not ads for the Chase card.  I don't know if it means much or not but it's the last shred of optimism I'm clinging to! Since you mentioned taking note of the ads as well, you may be able to add to that."

They appeared after I applied, extra irony. I would not trust the ads.

I applied on my own, wanted to have the card before Prime day.

That's definitely strange!

For me the ads have been there for years.  I finally did prequal (with a successful offer), then the ads changed to the Amex business card.  Then a few days later the ads switched to the sync store card and I got the denial letter.  The ads still show the sync store card.
