Chase Amazon Visa

I recently applied for a Chase Amazon Visa Rewards card and was given this message:

Unfortunately, an immediate decision about your application can not be provided as it requires further review. You will be notified in writing about the status of your application within 30 days.

What is the liklihood of approval with getting a response like that when applying for a new credit card? I realize this is not technically a denial, but it is not an approval either. As I am a chase bank customer, I emailed chase through the secure message system as a chance to find out more info and recon and they responded with a generic message telling me to call their customer service department. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Re: Chase Amazon Visa

Call

Chase: 888-245-0625 (Credit Analyst - Recons)

Ask them if they need any additional info and the status of the app..  I would ask scores, etc, but kinda past that point.  Be ready to recon if a denial, but could be just verification.. Best of luck and they will let you know if denied/approved or if verification is needed etc..

Agreed, definitely call. Chase will possibly recon for you.

Re: Chase Amazon Visa

I called and spoke to a nice lady, but unfortunatley I was denied due to high utilization on my current capital one cards.

To get better answers and recommendations, how does your report look like?  How high is utilization on your CAP 1 cards?

Re: Chase Amazon Visa

I have two capital one cards, the quicksilver card and the journey card: $1100 limit on each and both are maxed due to unexpected issues. To be honest, I was surprised I did not get denied right away. I am working on paying those off as soon as possible. I was always told to keep utilization around 20%.

Ya an application is never a good idea to do when you have a card or cards maxed.. Pay them down and re-apply once they report.  Best results is only one card reporting < 10 %

@Anonymous,

Ok.. With cards maxed out, that is your answer right there.  Don't apply for anything else until you get it down so that you can save yourself from hardpulls..

Re: Chase Amazon Visa

Once your in with chase you can get away with 30 to 40 percent individual card utilizations but under 18 percent overal utilization approval. But maxed they arent forgiving.
