Chase “Approvals” with Fraud Alert

I moved all my banking back to Chase about 2 months ago. I removed my freezes last week to check for pre-quals at Chase (none) and ended up having someone apply for a US Bank Harley Visa in the 24 hours I had the freezes lifted. US Bank was able to remove the inquiry and cancel the app and they suggested I place a fraud alert.

Today, I login to Chase to check my direct deposit and I finally have the "you're approved" offers. Crazy variance in SL but I really want the CSP for the low fee compared to SUB. I'm confident in taking the plunge even if it means HPs. I have the AmEx Plat for my lounge access. So while the CSR has a great SL I can't justify the fee right now.

OFFERS (as of 8/14)

CSR $17k

CSP $7k

CFU $2k

Slate $3k

CFF $3k

SWA Plus No Limit Offered

UA Explorer No Limit Offered

With the fraud alerts with the bureaus I wonder if it is worth going to the branch to apply in person. That way they know I am the one submitting the app. The banker I opened my personal and trust accounts with was amazing and made sure both myself and spouse got the $300 checking SUBs.

Anybody have experience with Chase apps and fraud alerts and if the branch sees the offers we see on our side to help us accept/apply?

P.S. The other thing I see is it says offers as of 8/14. But it was 8/17 that I checked for pre-qual on Chase.com with no offers and later that day that the fraudster hit US Bank.

I'd probably go into the branch with a fraud alert - real shame because the future, I think, is less branches. And don't forget your birth certificate, I.D., proof of address, and hair, urine and stool samples.

Dahx is right unfortunately. Chase has one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever seen in a trillion dollar bank. Numerous instances of Chase accusing people of committing fraud. One of my friends went to a Chase branch and tried to cash a certified check by his insurance carrier (he was involved in a total loss accident) and they accused him of trying to defraud Chase! They literally got on the phone with his insurance company, and still once they got off the phone accused him once again of trying to defraud Chase.

In the instance of Fraud Alerts, I would make sure you have several pieces of identification when going into the branch.

Despite Chase's multi billion dollar investment in technology and ai screening, they suck at fraud prevention in my opinion. Their systems always target the wrong people!

Re: Chase “Approvals” with Fraud Alert

Yep! I made an appointment for today and met with one of the Bankers I have worked with before. We opened lots of checking, savings, and trust accounts and have a good relationship with about 4 of them that work at this new branch.

She said she could see the pre-approvals on her end but no SL so she sent me a link that would let me accept an offer in my app but allow her access to it. It took her talking to 3 differnt people in verification and me talking to them to confirm I was sitting in front of her and hit the "apply" button on my own phone.

Everytime her resonse was, "I have the client in front of me and he is a known client at our branch. I also verified DL, major credit card, and Chase debit card. He made the appointment today to prevent this exact issue today and we'd appreciate an expedited review of his application."

She was exceptional! Going to post on over in the approvals area... Smiley Happy

Congrats on your success!

You must have really left a lasting impression with that stool sample. Your ambition to prove your identity and leave a piece of you behind for their records is commendable!
