Chase Bank

So I called Chase back today and spoke to Kevin in the recon dept after a previous attempt 2 days ago. I had initially applied and was denied because of too many inquires. I thought I would give it a shot and try again. He was a total dick about it.. I told me that he was going to uphold the denial stating that I have too many inquires and too many new accounts. I have only 4 that are in my name Fingerhut 400 CL (closed now) opened Mar 2014, Gettington 300CL, Barclays 500CL (opened after my initial app) and Wal-mart MC 2200CL (opened after my initial app). My scores are decent 632EX 728 TU 640EQ my utilization is 14%

After that experience I think I am done with them personally, I have never been treated with such disrespect, it was appalling. I will go for BoA, Citi or any other of the cards in about 3 months or so when the inquires settle down.

Re: Chase Bank

Since they more than likely pulled EX, a 632 is just to low for chase im sorry to say.

I would look into capital one pre-qual and see if you have offers from them and take 1 or 2 of them and then garden for 6 months.

if you have had Barclay for over 6 months, hit the CLI button on them and ask for $5k and let it counter back.

Try not to take it too personal. I know it's very hard when you apply for a card you want and get shot down.I also know it's very frustrating when the Recon Department also denies you. What I would do is either move on, or focus on working on their reasons for denying you. You have a lot of new accounts and inquiries. I'm also sure that's why your EX and EQ scores aren't doing so well Chase uses both EQ and EX for their decisions). Let these new accounts age for 6 months - 1 year and ask for CLI's along the way. With responsible use of your credit, you should be in good shape for Chase by then. I think sometimes we forget that these banks don't owe us anything. They don't have to issue you a credit card....even if your scores are amazing. Their decisions aren't personal. They are based on their internal risk models. You have too many new accounts and inquiries, which are legitimate reasons for denial. Work on that and you'll be fine. At least that is something you can fix in 6 mo's - 1 year. Good luck!

Thanks ccb and everyone,

I will garden for 6 months and retry then. I didn't have an issue with being turned down ( first recon Audra was really nice) but Kevin was completely unprofessional and rude. That was my big and only gripe. Thanks for the advice and look forward to my first upper crust card and 5 digit limit down the road.
