Chase CLI Timeline ?

Hi all- not heavy into having a ton of cards but wondering when I can try CLI on Chase Bonvoy - I only have $5000 starting CL and am 3 months into it.

I'm done w rebuild and only have this Chase Card (5000) , Disco ($2000) and AU on BOA with wife ( $7000).

I am thinking of going for a CLI and apply for Chase Saphire , what are your thoughts ?

scores are all over 800 my income is 170k and util is at 6% with 1-2 inquiries per report.  I want to increase CL and build out a premier card or two.

thanks !

Re: Chase CLI Timeline ?

if you're going to apply, apply for the card first before the CLI so you aren't rejected for not having enough credit that Chase is willing to give you because the CSP requires a $5k minimum CL

Re: Chase CLI Timeline ?

I believe Chase gives increases at the 6 month mark.

Re: Chase CLI Timeline ?

I agree with @GZG , if you want to get the Sapphire Preferred card too apply for that prior to asking for a limit increase. You should usually be able to get a limit increase every 6 months with the card but sometimes you might be eligible even earlier.  If you go their website and go to your card and use the drop down menu you can see an option to request a credit limit increase. It will show you all the cards that are currently eligible for an increase.  You just choose the card you want the increase with (if you have multiple Chase cards showing up) and then usually you will get approved. I've had cards show up as soon as 4 months after getting an increase as being eligible for another increase, although I've often heard it's every 6 months for Chase limit increases.

Re: Chase CLI Timeline ?

I recently had luck getting a CLI through the mobile app. Besides requesting one manually via the "manage account" page, sometimes an option to request an increase will appear under "show details" where you view your current credit limit. I was approved for an increase (of their choosing) instantly when I clicked the link that was offered to me. If you're wary of requesting one too early, you could always keep an eye on the app and see if that other option appears.

Re: Chase CLI Timeline ?

Hello,

I know that this post is somewhat old, but i would like to share a DP in case others may be wondering about Chase's CLI. I recently got the CSR and have been lurking within the myfico forums and Reddit about Chase's CLI timeline. I was curious and decided to just send a Secure Message asking when i would be able to request a CLI. Someone got back to me within a day and said "You can request for a credit line increase anytime." They said you can request within the mobile app or through secure message. You will just need to send in additional information to them. This is good to know since i've only had the CSR for about a month.

Hope this helps anyone wondering.

Re: Chase CLI Timeline ?

Hi Wavester64,

From what i've seen on multiple forums, Chase is no longer requiring a HP for CLI. Every forum i've searched and on every post it said 3 months to 6 months before requesting CLI. I was pleasantly surprised to hear from Chase that any one could do a CLI at any time.

Hope this helps. Smiley Happy

You can request once every 10 minutes if you wanted to (dont do this). But being eligible/ approved for a CLI is typically every 180 days, according to 'most' DPs. There have been some new accounts that are able to get higher credit limits, like yours. My CSP is new since December, and I may call in or SM once PIF.

Re: Chase CLI Timeline ?

Hello Blender,

Thanks for the reply and the information. I'm most likely going to wait  maybe one more month before i submit a CLI. I was just adding this information in case someone with a new account was hoping to maybe increase their CLI if they started off with a lower SL. I did not know this with Chase because my other credit cards don't allow me to request one often. Congrats on the CSP. My CSR is from February.
