I just recently applied for a Chase Freedom from the pre qual site. It said I was pre qualified and had a button to accept offer. When I submitted my application it said we're sorry we can not approve you at this time and a letter will be sent to you in 30 days stating our reasons.

Ok, kinda figured I was aiming a little high on that one right now with a new move (less than 4 months ago) high inqs (14) and quite a few new accounts this year (6) most of the inqs and new accounts were for the new house, furniture, household goods and whatnot. Got the accounts because they all offered spend bonuses which I knew I could meet and pay off right away. Which I did.

Well that was 2 weeks ago that applied and kind of forgot about it. Today I received an Welcome to Chase Freedom email. I was like huh? The email gave me the last 4 digits of my new account, so I called the phone number entered the last 4 digits of new account and bam it told me I was approved for $4500 SL not bad. Told me my card would be here in 7-10 days.

So I have found with Chase even a denial can turn into an approval. So until you actually get a denial letter watch your email and they may just surprise you.

Congrats, that is a surprise!

I'm not holding my breath, I was hoping for a $25K SL, guess I'll need to move some CLs around to get a $25K Chase card

I got the 30 day message too, waited about 3 days, called the 800 number, said I'll get notice within 7-10 days, then got approved for the card a couple days after.

Re: Chase CSP 7-10 or 30days?

I am scared of high limits like 25k still. While I know I can handle the limits as I am a PIF every month before statement cuts kinda gal. I once had credit issues and had to crawl out of the hole to get myself back to where I am today.

So now a days I look at the credit limits and think to myself, is this something I could pay off if a worse case scenerio were to happen? I know that if something happened that it would take me years to pay off a max limit 25k card and that scares me because I don't want to ever end up in a bad credit situation again.

I applaud you for being able to have those types of limits and maybe one day as time passes and I get over my past credit woes and being afraid of credit problems I can get up there too. Right now 10k is the highest limit I will let myself have on a card just to be safe.

Wow, that's good news. Congratulations! Especially with the "7-10 day" message on the automated status line. Everyone says that usually means a denial.

I suppose that just goes to show that Chase is impossible to predict with any accuracy. Except for the 5/24 Rule, there really doesn't seem to be any method to their credit madness!

Wow! an approval after a denial and you didn't do anything. Another exception to the rule I guess. Although I read somewhere, maybe this forum or another one that someone got approved and then received a denial.

Yes, really weird. At that time, I thought I would get a denial especially because none of my scores were in the 700's. I also had a freedom opened only for like three months i think...!! You never know!
