So, I applied for the CSP on 12-15-2017 and got the 30day popup, email, and auto message per the "app status hotline" everyday (including today). However, when I got home and checked the mail, I had a letter from them stating that my application had been denied due to the specific reasoning of, "You earned a new account bonus on a SAPPHIRE product in the last 24 months".
Yes, I got a bonus in the last 24 months on a sapphire card, but I am not interested in re-earning the bonus. I was rather just interested in obtaining the card again to pair with my Chase Freedom. That is actually how I got my Chase Freedom to begin with. Back then, I had gotten the CSP in March, got the bonus and PC'd over to a Freedom shortly after. I am not denying having earned the bonus and I am aware of their stipulation of only getting the bonus once every 24 months.
Would it be worth trying for recon on this to see about getting the card approved without the bonus, since that was the only reason listed on the denial letter?
In regards to the denial letter, it didn't come with a phone number or a credit score letter of any kind...
Edit to add: I am still getting the 30 day message as of the time of posting this. Is recon open 24 hours and should I call now, or wait until tomorrow during business hours?
Unfortunately, it used to be you could still be approved , and just not get the bonus, if you had recieved a bonus within the past 24 months. Now they have gone a step further -- you'll be locked out of being approved entirely. This is likely hard coded like 5/24, and not able to be overridden (haven't seen any such data points).
You can always call and recon, there's no harm, but more than likely it's just a firm policy and you have to wait until you pass it.
