Re: Chase Card Chance

Good morning,

Yes, I did go into a branch and spoke a woman I believe to be the manager.  We did spend about 15 minutes talking but she never asked for my information, never even touched her computer.  I explained to her that I was considering opening a business and personal checking account, as well as credit card.  I told her about my auto loan and she said that shouldn't be too much of a problem.  I then asked about my "internal score".  She then told me that they have no idea what that is in the branch, only their lending department would have such information.  While she was very nice and polite, I almost felt like she didn't want my business.

I guess I can try another branch and see if they are willing to at the very least look at my account.  I have received checking account offers from them but no credit card offers have proactively popped up on my account.  My scores are also continuing to climb as i've paid my utilization down tremendously over the past 2-3 months.

At this point, i'll try a different branch and see if I get a different result.  Will keep you posted for sure!

Thanks again for the support and feedback:-)

You have to be specific and ask them to check for any pre-approved offers in their system.

Re: Chase Card Chance

Your numbers look good. I got cards through chase with far worse numbers, but a strong checking and savings history.

Let us know how it goes at the branch!

Re: Chase Card Chance

Thanks again all for the excellent advice.  So I went to the branch last Friday, as I had to take my military id back for my free\no fee checking account.  I worked the nerve up to ask the manager what he thought my chances were to be approved for a card.  He fidgeted around on the computer and told me "Chase has an internal scoring system...blah, blah, blah".  SO to me that translated into "no pre-approval for me".

I went home with my head hanging low and said, what the heck apply on line.  This was Friday afternoon nonetheless.  After the wheel stopped spinning, I got a "thank you for your application, pending further review".  I called the app status line and received the 30 day message.  Since the forum says 30 days is usually a high probability of approval, i've been waiting.

Today, I receive a letter in the mail from Chase regarding my new checking account I opened.  They were unable to verify my id on line but I had already gone into the branch to open the account.  So I called to ask about the credit application and they said no verification issues with the application but it was in underwriting.  I had read before that you should hang up and wait the 30 days instead of of speaking to underwriting.  I felt like I had nothing to lose so I was warm transferred, spoke to the underwriter, she put me on hold for 5 minutes, came back and said...........
