Chase Credit Application Question

I want to apply my first Chase credit card which is IHG premier card on January 2026 , my credit line is 337K on 50 credit cards, my only store card is Amazon Store by Synchrony, 6 of the accounts I am an authorized user, $2000 credit card debit 0% will be far lower in the next few months 0%APR till March 2027 on 20K credit line and $1148 balance of $20418 car loan, my next car payment is March 19 2026. What are my chances for approval. My Experian FICO score at the moment is 813 before was higher.  I will be at Chase’s 3/24 Rule. Unfortunately all my AMEX annual fees they come in the end or beginning of the year. What is your analysis and recommendation. I do have a checking account with Chase which I have a direct deposit.

Re: Chase Credit Application Question

You would very likely be approved so long as your hard inquiries are in check, and so long as your AU status isn't part of those inquiries.

IHG is a pretty middle of the road, but very decent card with generous welcome bonuses throughout the year.  Their main hotel is the Holiday Inn line, in which depending on how many points you acquire, and where you stay, you could earn a week of hotel stays, to upwards of two weeks on a single welcome bonus card.  They also participate with other resorts/lines which you have to shop around to find, that allow for a more upscale experience.  Those ones aren't as easily advertised.

The card itself allows you to earn points easily.  Since Holiday Inns are a 2-3 star hotel line, where the best bang for the buck comes in are in the oceanside resorts, or overseas resorts.  When you are in a hot spot competing with other upscale lines, that 2 start rating isn't really a 2 star rating anymore.  Those are the hotels that get a little more attention to detail.

$XXX,XXX in credit lines.
Multiple weeks in free credit reward vacations.
$X,XXX in bank rewards in only 12 months.

Best Western Rewards® Premium Visa

I have 6 inquiries, 4 of them will drop by the end of the year, 2 inquiries will pass one year mark plus I will drop to 3/24.  In the past I had an issue with Chase regarding verifying my identity, solved opening it by opening a checking account in a branch but had to garden for 2 years for my many inquiries and open accounts to drop. I was enrolled in IHG InterContinental Ambassador program for 2 years and have the Platinum Elite status till the end of the year.  Getting the card will allow me to book 4 nights for the price of 3 with my points. I have Amex Aspire, Surpass, Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant, Wells Fargo Choice Privileges Select, Mercury Best Western Rewards® Premium Visa.  I spend 7-9 weeks on the road trip spending different chain hotels incuding Holiday Inn Express, my P2 has IHG Premier and World of Hyatt cards.  My next move will be applying to World Of Hyatt. Maybe having 50 open accounts with high credit limit might be an obstacle obtaining an approval.

I can't see how you would be denied with that information.  You seem to know the numbers and everything looks good.  Ironically, I'm in the same situation myself.   Four hard inquiries fall off soon, and I've already lined up another card for P1 and P2.  Should secure another week or two in vacation for another higher end hotel line.

The best of luck to you.  I like these kinds of stories.

Re: Chase Credit Application Question

You should have no problem with that score. Being a Chase client should grease the skids. 3/24 is well under the Chase 5/24 limit. You can log into your account and apply from there, you're already in. Or you might apply from your ihg account.

I just got the prime card last month. My score was 808, they pulled tu. Because I was at 5/24, I didn't really expect approval, but they approved anyway, for $9000.  I think they're easier on cobrand cards, like prime and ihg. I applied from my prime account, they had a no hp pre approval there. You might check if ihg has that.

Good luck!
