Hi all- I applied for a Chase Freedom app and I received the following:
Thanks for applying. We need to review your application a little longer. We'll let you know our decision in writing as soon as we can. If we approve your application, you'll receive your card in the mail in 7-10 business days. Please don't resubmit your application. Thanks for choosing Chase Freedom Credit Card.
I then received an email stating the following:

I called two reconsideration lines after reading a few threads... there is obviously mixed messages out there about 7-10 day messages and 30 day emails. I called and it says that I will hear from them in writing in 7-10 business days on both lines. My question is this good?? The original message after the app says: that i will receive my card in 7-10 days if approved. Sooo I'm hoping this is good news. I'm thinking that if denied, it will say denial or am I wrong? Again, I need you alls thoughts since everyone is having different experiences. I'm 25 have a two old medical collections that have been disputed and removed from all credit agencies except one. Just got a new car and just built a new house. I make about 125,000 and has banked with Chase since I began my financial journey in grade school. Thoughts?

7-10 days seems to generally be a denial, sorry. But best to wait for the letter.
ok thanks for the reply. I'll wait for the letter or any information they provide. I read about some surprises so I'm hopeful. We will see. I also read that people avoid speaking with lending? Do you know why that is?

People here on myFICO avoid speaking with lending because we are outliers with all of our new accounts and app sprees. When you talk to lending, your reports are scrutinized and you get grilled by the analysts about every new account, inquiry, baddie, etc. and usually (like 95% of the time), the call ends in a denial.
Oh I see. Makes sense! Thanks for the info. I sure hope I get this card. I have a few secured cards that I want to get rid of. Do you think it might be helpful for me to speak with a representative if I do get a denial? Like I said the only baddie I have is that I got seriously ill in college and I had a medical bill. I have two medical accounts that are on my report. I have a deal via BBB to get them removed- so I'm working on that now. What do you think? & again thank you so much for your help and advice!

I suggest to just wait it out and see what the letter says, and once you know for sure if you're denied and what the reasons for the denial were, then call a backdoor number and try to recon. In that recon call, tell them what you're telling us about how you got ill and that medical bill. Maybe they'll be compassionate and approve you. Worth a shot.
Make perfect sense! Thank you so much for your advice! I appreciate it.

Sorry but the 7-10 days is a bad sign. I could never get a chase card due to baddies that were paid in full, finally after they fell off , I got approved. Recon always said No. It usually stays in the 7-10 day app status line, if denied. Every time I was denied , the line said the same thing. Good luck
OH no! That sucks! at least you're in the door now! Thanks for sharing your experience. How is your relationship with Chase now? Do you have any issues with your card?
I got that message when i applied for my Freedom card. they just needed to verify some info. So could be good news! never know!
