Chase Freedom Application Expedited

Thursday night I applied for a Best Buy Visa Card (Citi Bank) and was approved for $2000.00. I applied for this card to cover my MacBook purchase during their special 18mth financing promotion. I plan to pay off in 3-6 months. Since I applied for this card, i went ahead and applied for Chase Freedom before entering the garden.

I applied for the Chase Freedom Credit Card on Friday. Being that I have a fraud alert on all 3 of my credit bureaus, I had to verify my identity through their verification analyst. I answered a few questions and was told that I would be highly recommended for approval.  I called over the weekend and was told that my application was still pending approval because of my fraud alerts and that I would be notified via mail on their decision.

I called back today and was told that my application would be expedited and that a decision would be made by Wednesday.  Anyone experienced this? The analyst stated that i wasnt appoved over the phone bc they have to do more research due to my fraud alerts. I am uneasy about this. They did a hp on my experian report, so i am hoping something good comes out of this. This would be my last Credit Card Application before entering the garden.

Keep watching on your e-mail and check the spam folder. I had to jump through hoops and my approval notice came via e-mail and it said "Welcome to cash back!" but it went to Spam because it was kind of spammy. Hope this helps and good lucl!

Congratulations! It sounds as though you had a good experience with the Chase recon analyst. Last week I received instant approval for the Chase Sapphire Preferred but got an "application pending" Email when I applied for the Freedom card a couple days later. The automated phone line now says "7-10 days".

Based on advice here and elsewhere, I decided not to call for recon. But based on your experience I'm thinking maybe I should call after all?

I would definitely  call. I was told by several analyst to wait until I received a letter in the mail from 7-10 days. I refused to wait. I called twice per day voicing my concerns. I told them that i was uncomfortable not knowing the status of my approval. I finally got someone on the line who offered to expedite my application. It can't hurt you! I hope to ask for a CLI next month.  Good luck!

Today I received my Freedom denial letter from Chase. The sole reason given was "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us". Figured I didn't have anything to lose so I called Chase to ask for recon on the denial. The analyst actually was extremely courteous and helpful. He said my Freedom app was declined due to more than two applications within 30 days. I told him I was under the impression that rule didn't apply to Chase co-branded cards (one of my apps was for a Marriott Rewards card). He said that particular rule applies to all Chase cards. Apparently it's the 5/24 rule that isn't supposed to apply to AUs or Chase co-branded cards.

He said my Marriott Rewards application was in "verification" status and recommended I call on Monday to verify my information. He said that office is only open during business hours on weekdays. Regarding my Freedom card, he recommended that I call the recon line back 30 days after my application to ask for approval. That way, he said, I can avoid another hard pull on my CR. I told him I would do that and thanked him for great customer service!
