Chase Freedom Approval Recon tips?

Well guys,

I fell off the wagon when I saw that chase freedom $200 offer So I apped today.

Instant approval for $3500 @ 22.99% This means I have apparently been pushing it this year as thats the maxed out APR. haha

However, I want to push it just a tad further. I was thinking of Calling to recon for another $1,500 to bump me into visa signature range.  After doing some quick algebra I coudl trasnfer over $3250 of the limit to the freedom to maintain  signature status on both cards, but  that would involve slicing up my pretty $10k limit.

The question is, should I call in normally about my application to ask if it is visa sig, or ram it straight home to the Recon dept and ask for a small bump to the guaranteed signature range? I already have a $10,000 limit Sahppgire card  with them so really Im just being greedy.

I was also thiniing of mentioning that I closed my Capital one card just for them( I did) a month ago in prep for this app. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Getting a $5000 limit with Chase does not guarantee that your card will be a Visa Signature. It is a necessary but not sufficient condition. It may be worth a try to get that CLI to $5000 just to see if they will start you out with a Visa Signature, but if the card comes in the mail and it isn't a Visa Signature, it can be upgraded to one after having the account for a year (at least from what I've read on these forums).

Re: Chase Freedom Approval Recon tips?

The rate you got is the rate you got unfortunately. You MIGHT be able to recon limit but I wouldn't waste my breath or the HP pull they're gonna want for it. I'd just as soon app for a different chase card that has a min $5,000 limit and first year AF free, cancel 11th month and roll THAT limit into your freedom then. Then try to convert to siggy.

OP - no guarantee of a CLI bump even if you burn a HP.  Since you mentioned you got greedy, and you want to PC your non-Signature Freedom into Visa Signature, slice your $10K CSP and reallocate some of that CL to Freedom to position the elegibility criteria.  Keep in mind though, this will take at minimum 12 months before they can consider such an upgrade on the new account.

Yep you two were right, they wanted a HP for a CLI ( which honestly is silly, you just HP'd me 45 minutes ago, but I digress.)

I was getting greedy and I dont see the need to slash my 10k limit.  I think Ill just roll with it as the 3k on my BCE is more than I need, $3.5k is even more, and if all else fails I can just dump it on my sapphire  rather than bethat guy who pulls out 3 cards and asks for a split on a big itemSmiley Very Happy.

If you are referring to customer-initiated requests for lowering APRs, not very successful.  They can automatically reduce the APR (based on periodic reviews) if your account is elegible after a period of time.  CLI requests are always HP with no guarantee of anything significant unless your credit profile is stellar coupled with income and other factors.  Some folks can be targeted for promotional SP CLIs via email or if your account qualifies for auto-CLI.

Re: Chase Freedom Approval Recon tips?

I have a CK of 666. I only have a student loan and the bestbut CC (utilization 65%) and I want to apply for the freedom but I'm waiting on lowering that util first. I don't know how much will that bump my CS but what would you recommend if I want to get the lowest possible APR?
