Hello! I applied for a Freedom card with Chase and was denied because I had too many recent inquiries with them specifically. That was the only reason the person gave when I called the backdoor number. I applied and got the Slate earlier that day and then tried to recon for a CLI. That apparently called for a hard pull. I was also approved for Capital One Quiksilver and Capital One Prestige. That makes 3 pulls directly from Chase, which is what I assume they have a problem with from their reasoning provided.
I have received 2 preapproved letters for the Chase Freedom and 1 for Chase Slate within the past week. When I checked their website for preapproval the day that I applied, I was preapproved, but today it says that I am not preapproved for any cards on their website.
Should I try to recon? Does anyone have any suggestions for explaining my recent inquiries when asked? Also, how long should I wait to recon? I don't have a mortgage or car loans, I just got a little excited after I applied and got approved for the first few cards. I really want the Freedom card for the rewards that it offers. Although Slate doesn't offer rewards, it will its purpose as a BT card. Thanks in advance for any help given!

THe 2 HP from Capital One are not Chase. How many inquiries do you have? Just the 3? What are your scores and how does you credit profile look like?
I would try the recon agent and explain the inquires and ask for a manual review. Be prepared to have an explination for your inquires.
If that does not work try writing a nice letter to the EO and explain you had pre-approvals, highlight you're credit worthiness such as oldest card in good standing, payment history
Do not sound desperate and repeat call every few hours they notate that. Let the letter to the EO letter take its course if you decided to take this route. If they still end up denying you consider waiting six months to a year and re-apply. Let them see you can handle credit that they issue.
You can recon right away (but make sure not to do it 30 days past when you applied for the card); just explain the inquiries (do you have a thin/young file?) the best you can. However, if you have a young/thin file, they might want to see how you handle Slate with them first before extending you more credit (this is not uncommon with banks). In that case, wait 6 months to a year and try again (the longer the better). How much is your Slate approved for? You might want to see if they can split the limit (ie- if you have a $1000 Slate, see if you can take $500 and get a $500 Freedom).
You might just be better off waiting though as Chase is stingy on giving you credit limit increases and you might be stuck with a $500 22.99% APR Freedom long after you have outgrown it credit file wise.
In my case like say callandra they denied me because i have 2 young cards and they say to wait how go with that account and apply later again , not say anything about my inqs and i have 10 in transunion.
Hello! Thanks for all of the replies. I had 5 hard pulls. 2 were from Chase and 3 from Capital One as shown on Credit Karma. I called them back today and they explained basically what Caliandra and Gust stated. Not about my inquries in general, just about me starting a new account with them and they want to see it grow before extending more credit. I'm going to try to recon again when I get the denial letter in the mail.
My oldest line of credit is 4 years but my average age is 1 year and 10 months. My TU score is 652. I have never missed or been late on a payment. I'm wondering if trying to recon will even work. It seems as they already have their mind made up.

Probably not. Give it another 6 months. Why is your tu so low? Something holding it down. What I did 6 months ago after getting denied the freedom. I refused to app until I got pre approval. Once that happened. I apped immediately. Good luck.
