I applied for a Chase Freedom a couple of weeks ago and go the 7-10 day message and a subsequent denial letter in the mail. I threw the letter away but now want to call for a recon...I took the HP after all. Do I need to have that letter with an application ID or can I just call and go from there?
Thanks.
Sometimes they ask for the reference number that is listed on the denial letter, but they should be able to get all the information they need about your application via your SSN.

What was denial reason,in letter?
Too many accounts opened recently (no specified time period given) - at the time of app, i had 1 account opened since Dec 2015.
Balance on revolving accts too high
Does that affect me needing the letter?

No, I'm assuming Milo just didn't know if you recalled the reasons for denial. I don't see any reason why not having the letter and reference number would prevent you from reconning. I was recently trying to recon a CSP application and the person only asked for my Chase account # or SSN to verify my identity. They were then able to pull up my declined application from that.

Right on. That makes sense. I am not sure I'm going to recon considering my balance is pretty high. We'll see.

Lavathing is correct on my post;jus wanted to make sure because they more than likely will bring these factors up on recon call......I made a lil bullet point with good replies to counter deniel reasons when I reconned.......now jus be polite and counter them quick at every turn...if a opportune time comes up to change subject off of why you should not have the CC .....jus hit the Gas rite into why you should have the CC and add in some thk you's and your golden😆
Hope this helps...
Good tips, thanks! Even though I don't have the letter, I definitely have quick, solid counters for their reasons for decline. But, because my balances are high, I am thinking of just waiting and reapplying. I have read that Chase is reluctant to give CLIs and I don't want to start off with a toy limit and get stuck there.
