Hello so Im just wondering what the odds are of me getting approved. I've been going through identity theft so in the past month or two I've gone up about 170 or so points on all 3 cb. I went from about 9 collections, all past due with balances, to now all my disputes got updated over this past weekend Im fianlly clear from everything, No collections, deragatories, late payments, or inquiries. nothing. Just a few brand new open federal student loans with a secured credit card I've had for a few years.
I think my score went from low high 400/low 500s, August 2024, to today currently 647 EQ, 671 TU, and a 660 EX. So huge improvemnt.
I appliied for the Freedom Rise card ( I do have a chase checking with more than $250), since my credit age is very new and thin I figured it could be one of the good choices to get my foot in the door. I got denied.
So after getting denied at the bank I called the recon line and spoke to a few lovely ladies. The first underwriter lady bascially said I broke the 5/24 rule. Insane because I havent even opened a new credit card or been an authorized user in the past 2 years. That didnt go well with the lady so I hung up and called back. This time I got tranferred to another underwriter lady. She basically went through my credit file and my finances and put me on hold. Every now and then she came back with questions about the secured bank card, but nothing else really. Just on hold for about 25 minutes. Im wondering if she was able to see how much my credit changed in the last 2 months? Or maybe that everything was disputed and deleted this past weekend? I definately made sure all my fico scores updated and everything got deleted before applying.
But she came back and basically said there isnt a decision right now, ill get something in the mail in about 2 weeks with the decision.
Everytime I call the application line, it says the same, 2 weeks. Not 7-10 days but 2 weeks.
I guess I just want to know whatre the odds I could get approved? I know I have a thin credit with limited credit age, but Im hoping possibly I could get approved. Thank you.
If your collections and any other derogatory information has been removed from your reports completely they wouldn't see them. DTI might be a concern, but I'd say their biggest concern/question would be the secured card still being secured after years of having it. It might not have graduated because of the derogatory information that was previously on your reports. Although nothing is presently on your reports, having a secured card for an extended period of time would indicate to potential lenders there may have been issues in the past.
Well it's like a credit builder/secured card it's hard to explain like Varo ! It's marked as a secure card but not really I don't give them a deposit or anything and they report what I spend on the card! Anyways that's irrelevant, I got approved today for $1000 CL!!
