I would like some input. What are the odds of me getting approvied for 1 or both of these cards?
Current Scores:
EX 777- clean file
TU: 785- clean file
EQ 650. I have a paid collections from Midland & AFNI on here.
I have 0 late payments. The last time I apped for a card was in January
As far as checking utilization, are they check what was reported to the bureaus or do they check current balance of my cards at the time of applying?
I'm traveling out of the country in October and wanted the card for the 0% APR for 15 months(chase) and 12 months(discover). FYI I live in Florida

Normally I would say Discover is much easier to get than Chase, but Chase pulls EX and Discover seems to usually pull EQ.
Probably your chances are equal but I guess smart play is to go for Chase at this particular point in time.

Something that you have look out for is Foreign Transaction Fees (which Freedom has but Discover does not) and scope of acceptance (no problem with Freedom but you could run into a problem with Discover)
I've looked into that. I really want both but don't want to risk and get denied by Discover. I'm going to my local chase branch tomorrow since I've been banking with them for 3 years now, *crosses fingers*
I think Discover is the better card (ignoring the Freedom w/ CSP combo, and talking Freedom vs Discover) with broader categories. Everyone talks about how versatile the Freedom points are, but without a CSP, they are no different or more versatile than cash, and Discover discounts gift card redemptions (i.e. 20 rewards gets you 25 bucks) which increases the value even more.
On an acceptance level, I dunno. Chase is fairly conservative. You may be easier getting into Discover, and CLIs definitely come easier with them, so your card will grow.
Are the scores you wrote in your message fico?
If they are, I say pretty good chances.
For me;
At the time, 2 unpaid collections, 4 judgements (1 paid) and high utilization on 2 cards (over 80%) overall util was 27% or so. Lots of inquries and lots of new accounts.
Got the Chase Freedom and Discover IT, the Chase was a 7-10 type of message and approved a day or two later. (I called) Ficos were between 656 and 669 at the time.
Although I only got a limit of 500 on chase, discover gave me 1300 and 2 months later a CLI up to 1800.
Good luck

Discover didnt give me the 0% apr. I got the non promotional apr rate.
Update us once you apply and get a response. if you're not in a rush, maybe wait a month or two and your EQ might go up 10-20 points.
Your other scores are great. My scores are similar to you and I'm interested in those two cards as well.

The scores in my signature are out dated. I listed my current scores as of 7/15/15 above
