One of the biggest things that helped me was the fact that I found this website while I was in the process of buying a house. As a result, I had to wait it out and just read and learn as much as possible. That's how I learned things like Chase's 5/2 rule. By learning as much as you can about a card before you apply, you may save yourself a hard pull (and dissappointment). Sometimes it's a card that I want, but when I read what other members have said about the process of getting the card, I decided against applying because I'm not confident that I'll be approved.
While you're gardening, you can still come here and read and learn and do SCT (but don't pull the trigger)...all of these will help your "hobby".
I applied for the Freedom card because I use Chase for personal and business banking , and all the sites like CK and this one gave me a FAIR chance of being approved , which I belive I would have if not for the all the new accounts and inquiries .

CK is garbage for CC referrals as they get paid to refer you but don't really use substance. That's what I mean about researching first. There are a ton of posts on here about the fact that Chase is sensitive to new accounts. Plus you can use the preapproval links (although not guaranteed) to give you a better feel before you apply.
I know about CK and don't use their " chances " of being approved , only use the ones from here on Myfico or Transunion , that is all . I will let my new accounts age and let these inquiries fall off and maybe next summer pull the trigger on something new .

Thanks for posting this. It could be part of the reason but who knows. I reconn'd last week for higher SL on the Freedom after approval but didn't get it and the rep. mentioned I had lots of inqs.
That is basically what the CA said from Chase

Ck had my approval odds at 'very good' last week for Discover..I was denied. So annoying because I knew better. I'm over it and waiting for scores to recover a bit. Pay NO attention to CK when it comes to their recommendations.
I was hit from Discover , American Express, Barclay, Cap One and Chase because these sites all said I had a fair chance , but we are getting hit with the inquiries for attempting to app for them and when denied we kick ourselves in the ass

They have my odds for the CSP at very good, and I can absolutely guarantee that I'd get denied if I apped.
