Anyway, the way I interpreted the original post is that it was human interference that made application process "fail" 

OP applied for two Chase cards in less than a month. No instant approval, OP assumes it's a denial and applies for a different card a few days latter based on CSR's response. 

 

We see this all the time..."call and recon recon recon" . 

 

Why recon before you know reasons for denial in a first place. Front line CSR will almost never have the complete info, and are very likely to give incorrect or incomplete answer. 

 

If a recon is truly needed, you'd need to know what to address and that will be in the letter. Jumping the gun never helped anybody, and in most cases makes things a whole lot worse. At least having the letter in hand would allow to prepare possible explanations for denial reasons with lenders who still allow it. 

 

As much as I like to blame Chase for everything, it's a whole lot better to let the process play out without interfering.
