I apped for Chase Marriot and United cards for sudden travel I have to do for work. But I got the above message. Any suggestions on what to do next? J
The automated status line, you want to avoid talking with lending if you have applied for credit recently with other banks/lenders. Wait it out and either you will get the card in the mail or the letter stating why not. Nothing really ever comes good from calling lending unless you haven't applied for much in the last two years and that will be a denial stamp vs. letting it work itself through their system

what were your scores Hokies? I want these two cards so bad right now, but my scores are in the 630s and I know within 14 days they will go up when two pfd baddies come off but yikes with the new 5/24 rule on cobranded soon in effect I don't know if my scores could wait. What were everyone's scores when getting approvals for these. Do you think mine are too low to stand a chance. Has anyone with scores this low gotten the united or marriot before? thanks.

Keep in mind that Chase not only looks at scores (albeit their proprietary internal one - CARS) in addition to other factors. Honestly, those current scores would appear a bit low for either Marriott or United CCs. I wouldn't waste a HP unless the scores would be above 650 (or lots higher) for best chances, all else considered.
Thanks Fin, I just wanted to try and get it before the 5/24 rule, as after that I would have two wait close to two years to try.
I didn't appy for either of those cards but I did get the same message for the Chase IHG. I completed the app on 16 Mar 16. Since I'm deployed and don't get snail mail here, I called a week after to explain that I don't get snail mail and just wanted to follow up. They told me to call two weeks after the app date. So I did and they told me to call one more week after. Then I checked my Chase account on 1 Apr 16 and see the credit card in my account. Not sure what the hold up was but the Chase IHG CSR who I spoke to told me that they were receiving a high amount of apps and that they verify the accounts both with Chase and IHG. Not sure how much truth can be held to that. Hopefull you'll hear from them soon and get the approval.
