@Horseshoez

>>I had high income, zero debt, and they'd been pestering me for months to apply for a SavorOne; yes, I was approved, but for a teensy $2,000 starting limit, which after two years has not grown a single dollar.<<

Wow, that's just crazy. They should be throwing boats of credit your way with those numbers.  Smiley Indifferent

Yeah, contrast that with Chase (who I did burn) and NFCU:

  • Chase: 3 credit cards, total limit $43,300 (all starting limits combined)
  • NFCU: 1 credit card, starting limit $30,000

I guess you won't be surprised to hear my CapOne cards are now in the proverbial Sock Drawer.

Chapter 13:

  • Burned: AMEX, Chase, Citi, Wells Fargo, and South County Bank (now Bank of Southern California)
  • Filed: 26-Feb-2015
  • MoC: 01-Mar-2015
  • 1st Payment (posted): 23-Mar-2015
  • Last Payment (posted): 07-Feb-2020
  • Discharged: 04-Mar-2020
  • Closed: 23-Jun-2020

I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

In the proverbial sock drawer:

Actually, we are already"in" with them. 4 checking accounts (2 business, 2 personal), 1 savings and I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve. Balance is low or paid off. It was $,8000, then paid off, then $6,000 then paid off. Usually pay off at end of month or pay in 2-3 months. They have increased my limit several times without my asking which I took as a sign, they like my spending and paying...

@QCS123 Currently learning the hard way Chase can be a little weird, finicky however you want to call it. Based on your profile its especially mind boggling.

FICO 8: EQ 712 | EX 711 | TU 706
Discover $10k (AU) | Wayfair $4.5k | AAA Daily Advantage $4.2k | Citizens Bank Cash Back+ | USB Altitude Connect $2k | Target $1k

I'm very confused.  After being in the garden for YEARS, I saw a message in my Chase Bank that I was pre-approved for two credit cards.  Looked at them both and decided to go for the one with the 0% offer for 13months as we are working hard on getting credit cards paid off (I'm at 21% Utilization).  My scores are good at EQ 755, T 750 ad EX 752.  I have a clean history and over 8 years credit length.  Everything reads either excellent or very good per myfico.

Interesting fact, when I click credit cards when signed into my Chase Account, I am pre-approved for 4 cards, not just the two cards.  I thought the green preapproved was usually (always?) approvced....so confused.  Has anyone else had this happen to them.  Man first time out of the garden in like 6-8 years....not sure how long it's been at this point!  Definitely NOT what I was expecting!

Two comments in no particular order:

  • I set very little store in pre-approvals from any financial institution; in my case I was pre-approved for a Discover card and they denied me, and denied me again after an appeal.  Then there was CapOne; my credit scores were all in the 800s, I had high income, zero debt, and they'd been pestering me for months to apply for a SavorOne; yes, I was approved, but for a teensy $2,000 starting limit, which after two years has not grown a single dollar.
  • Chase can be fickle, I was not pre-approved on the Chase Credit Journey site for anything beyond a savings account, and then I applied at a branch for a CSP and was approved with a starting limit of $11,700.  In your case, I would recommend appealing the denial in a branch.

Not necessarily @myfarouco  . My util was over 80% for months and I had multiple pre-approved offers in my Chase online banking. I went to the branch because I have a fraud alert on my CRs and knew they would need to verify me. Banker had me go through the app process on my phone... instant 10 day message. Banker called and confirmed I had applied and I walked out with the approval for CSR just as it was offered in my Chase online banking.
