Chase - Pull the Trigger

Okay, I wasn't going to app again until June, when 4 of my 6 Experian HPs would age beyond a year. But, Chase has pre-qualled me on three cards: Slate (not interested), Freedom, and CSP. Freedom is attractive for its 15 month 0% APR and I have one large bill still to pay. CSP is attractive for its 50K points (60k in-branch app) and I have two big trips coming up. In a week, CU will be well under 10%. Also, after next week my C1 QS CLI will age past 3 months and I'm thinking of asking for another one.

Chase's green checks vanish March 15th (so they say). Do I walk into my Chase branch and app for one, or the other? Or, do I tweak the Tiger's nose and go after BOTH of them? If the latter, do I app both in-branch, or only one there and the other online?

TU=685 (1), EX=733 (6), EQ=761 (1)

To quote the Philosopher Donkey, "I'm all ears".

Re: Chase - Pull the Trigger

I had the CSP check mark for 60k online in early January (but still with the cold app APR range), but then that changed to 50k at the lowest APR of the range. I went to the branch last week and had one offer there as well. I picked up the Freedom at the 300/500 SUB, the same offer I got on my FU.

It depends on your spending habits, of course, which card would be better for you. But I would never app with Chase without checking in-branch first.

Hope this helps! Smiley Happy

Re: Chase - Pull the Trigger

Just want to make sure you’re aware of Chase’s 5/24 policy. You’ve got 8 inq’s in 2 years, if that means you have more than 4 new accounts Chase will likely deny you for those products. There’s lots of info on the board about it, I’m on my phone or I’d grab a decent link.

It may be the case that in branch with preapprovals would go through. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

Re: Chase - Pull the Trigger

Where did you read the green checks go away March 15? On Chase’s site or somewhere online?

Re: Chase - Pull the Trigger

Yes, I'm aware of 5/24 and I have two spots open, both of which I want to fill with Chase cards - Freedom and CSP, as a matter of fact. Then, I'm in the garden for quite some time.

The March 15th date is somewhere on my page on the website and, I believe, it was also in the email sent to me, asking if I was "still interested in CSP". I can't find it now, because I only have my Android with me. I don't really worry about the date, anyway. If, in June or August, I have higher scores and lower CU, I'm sure the offers will stand.

Also, my thanks to GrasshopperStudent, since my Laguna Beach Chase branch is next door to my work, I'm not going to make a move without sauntering over and speaking to a Personal Banker.
