Chase Recon Advice

Hi All - I received the Chase Southwest 50k offer in the mail and decided to apply last night. I got the 7-10 day wait, and called this morning. She reviewed my file and told me I was denied for an old charge off and 2 accounts in collections. I am currently working to get these taken care, but has anyone had success in getting them to reconsider despite?

I was caught off guard initially when she told me, so really didn't say much more than ok, thanks. Now in retrospect, I feel like I should explain more. Any advice?

Re: Chase Recon Advice

Well you can call again and explain when you talk to another analyst.. but if that fails.. get those taken care of first and app again.

File a dispute with the Credit agency to see if the collection agency comfirms your debt if they dont they will remove it. if  they do  i would suggest PFD

Re: Chase Recon Advice

dispute the negatives so at least it shows up on your report as 'in dispute'; this should temporarily raise your score. Then do the recon and when they ask, explain whatever you can. I recon'd once on a Prime card with a negative showing on my report and was granted the card after the explanation. good luck.

Re: Chase Recon Advice

Get those reports as clean as possible first. That should be your biggest priority right now and really emphasize that on your recon call.

Re: Chase Recon Advice

While I got a secured card from CU, a rebuilder unsecured line, and a cap one with scores hovering around 600, I waited for the prime banks till the reports were clean.

Doing this method presents the double whammy, building credit while cleaning reports and raising score (okay, triple whammy Smiley Wink ).

The card will still be there. In removing collections, best to call and PFD first, before dispute. Otherwise, could come back updated, and lower your score (plus get the attention of your current cards).

Old charge off? I gardened until that fell off. YMMV, but it's best for apr's and long term credit building to have clean reports.
