Chase Recon Fail Again

It's been a while since I posted so here goes.

8 years post bk (Chase IIB) and appd for Marriott Rewards.  I have a good job and a perfect history since bk.  I also have a year of reserve funds in savings which I mentioned to them as welI. Scores are in the 730s across the board with 2 inqs on each report.  30k total cls with under 10% util.  I thought the recon went well but was declined after 12 minutes on hold.  Bk will fall off in another 2 years so I'll give it another shot at that time.

Hope this info helps others with their decision to apply or not.

Re: Chase Recon Fail Again

That's a bummer, SpecFile. Have you ever tried the Chase Amazon Visa Signature? I got approved for a $500 SL on recon 15 months post-BK. Chase was IIB too. I was amazed I got approved, and very grateful. I've read several posts lately about others getting approved post-BK on recon too.  Amazon might be a way to get your foot in the door to start establishing a positive history with them. Good luck! Smiley Happy

Thanks Bella!  I really don't need the Amazon card.  The only reason I appd for the Marriott card is because I spend about 60 nights/yr there and would benefit greatly.  Thanks for the suggestion though.

I've stayed at a Courtyard before, and just stayed in a Marriott for the first time on Tuesday night for a training I attended. I have to say I was very impressed! Do you already belong to their rewards program? I just signed up, and might look at the Marriott card someday when Chase trusts me again. Smiley Happy

I love Marriott.  I am a rewards member.  I'll try again in a couple of years with Chase.  No biggie.

Re: Chase Recon Fail Again

Sorry to hear about your recon, but I agree with Bella on the chase Amazon. Although you don't have any use for it now, it could open the door for a Marriot approval. Just something to think about.

Thanks JAG.  I get what you're saying but I'll just wait it out.

Re: Chase Recon Fail Again

So it's been over 30 days and I have not received a written response regarding my application denial.  I did recon and was NOT recommended for approval.  The app status line says app is under review and I should receive a response in the mail in 7-10 days.  It's been saying that for over 30 days now.  I thought they were required to provide me with something in writing.  Is this correct?
