In March I helped my dad get 3 major credit cards (2 Cap1's and a CreditOne), and 1 joint store card. This month he's seen $1900 in CLI's between the three cards. Decided to try to Chase Freedom, as his FICO scores are in the low 700's now, and got a letter today saying "Too many credit cards opened in the last 2 years). He's only got like 6 Inq's on his Experian, which they pulled. What do you think the chances are if he called for reconsideration?

No, 4 total.

What are his limits on the current cards and what bureau was pulled? Does he have any baddie on his reports?

Standard reasoning with Chase lately. Does your dad have any cards over 5k? How long with the credit history?

He had no credit until Janurary when I added him to a couple of my old cards to start a history for him, before that we couldn't even pull his report. His Cap1's are 1550 and 1900 on the limits, and his CreditOne is 1400. He has no baddies, never had anything in his name, had a clear report when I helped him get these cards.

His highest limit personally is 1900, he's on several of my 5K+ cards though. Credit history started in Jan of this year.

Chase has tightened up on their branded cards. I was thinking maybe a co branded card from Chase but they may want more history than 9 months. Best to recon freedom to see if you can open even with a $500 limit to get in the door
Thanks, I'll have dad call Monday!
Definitely recon!
Keep trying over and over with many reps if the first few fail. I have heard that Chase likes to see at least 1 year of history before they hand you over one of their cards... But at the same time, there have been a lucky few on the forum here that have shown otherwise.
