Chase Recon options?

I applied for CSP and got the 7-10 msg. I called recon after receiving the letter that I had applied for too many cards the last 2 years. The rep seem to have been new just reading off a script. He said I had 5 new cards, I corrected him and said I had only 4 new cards which 1 of them was a store card and (2 others as AU which I didn't mention). He immediately went to say that since my cards are still new and I had a negative with Chase before (less than $400 with wamu over 8-10yrs) I could not recon, that they wanted to see my history with the new cards. I have had a cap1 in good standing since 2012 and my score are over 700.  The thing that is really upsetting is that they changed from one reason to another after I corrected them.  Should I call recon again? How much time should I wait to call? Which is the best #? I called 888-245-0625 (Credit Analyst - Recons). Sorry for the rant, just frustrated.Smiley Mad

The script is real and if denied due to.... to many accounts in the last 2 years (5/24 rule)

Recon can not overturn the decision so no use in repeat calls

I'm so sorry you didn't know this before applying

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Chase Recon options?

I am sorry you didn't know about the Chase "5 in 24", but it's real. You can't have opened more than 5 cards in the last 2 years. Even if you only had 4, that plus the negative with Chase may have been the nail in the coffin.

Further recons are simply a waste of your time. There is no overturning it. All you can do is wait until your accounts have aged sufficiently.

Again, sorry OP!

Re: Chase Recon options?

I applied for Chase Freedom yesterday and was instantly approved online. I decided to try the Sapphire Preffered at the same time too (I know it was a long shot) and got the "7-10 day" message. I called this morning for my first recon ever! Was on the line for about 17 mins with the rep, asked me a bunch of questions, confirmed my income, etc... In the end, she said that I just did not have a high enough credit limit to be approved for the Sapphire (I was approved for $3K on Freedom) and I have $2.5K CL on a Ann Taylor Mastercard. She told me they want to see a bit more established history, etc... Oh well, at least I tried...figured since it was already a hard pull I might as well call and talk to someone instead of waiting for the denial letter in the mail.

Anyways, I applied for the Venture card today just because I really want to establish my credit and thought it would be good to have a 3rd card. Went thru the online application, pressed submit and got a "session interrupted" message! Urgh. I called Capital One right away just to check if my application went thru - it did not. So the rep asked if I wanted to apply over the phone. Applied on the phone with her and instantly approved for $15,000 starting credit!

When I reconned my Freedom, she brought up WaMu, (it was actually an old Providian card from the late 90's). She said I had a blemish with Chase and at first I had no idea what she was talking about since I'd never had a Chase card. Took a bit to figure it out.
