Chase Relationship Building?

Hi all, after burning chase back in 2012, and my recent rebuild, I am working on trying to build a relationship with Chase for their credit products.

TU801 EQ 723 EX806

Currently 20% credit usage reporting

Wondering how I can get chase to give me some pre approved offers and how long it takes to build relationship ?

I created checking account / signed up today and switched direct deposit to chase .

I also added my income (150 ) and logged into credit journey and connected my 401k approx 100 k. Idk if this makes any difference to add the external accounts ?

Looking for some insight here into what I could do to build up relationship with chase ?

Located in MD for what it's worth

thanks !

Re: Chase Relationship Building?

I never had a BK or burned Chase but I have heard they can be pretty strict, especially if they were included.   However, the linked thread offers some general data points about how long it has to be since BK was filed, and since you've been over ten years, that element should be fine.

As for the IIB with Chase, I was surprised but that same thread had some encouraging data points.  See >message 17 of that thread<.

If you want to solicit further advice, suggest you look in that Bankruptcy subforum and ask those over there as you're likely to find even more data points and advice about credit after BK clears.

Re: Chase Relationship Building?

No BK for me but starting from zero credit it took about a year and a half of direct deposits to my Chase checking account before I got my first offer from them.

I personally haven't found Chase to be much on 'relationships'.

Re: Chase Relationship Building?

Hi @FriendshipSoft, the post @Aim_High directed you to read was from me; while there are differences between our situations in that I declared bankruptcy which ended up burning Chase for north of ten-grand, you had a small charge off.  That said, dating back to last December when Chase approved me for my CSP, the only "pre-approval" I had from their web site was for a savings account; nothing more.

Chapter 13:

  • Burned: AMEX, Chase, Citi, Wells Fargo, and South County Bank (now Bank of Southern California)
  • Filed: 26-Feb-2015
  • MoC: 01-Mar-2015
  • 1st Payment (posted): 23-Mar-2015
  • Last Payment (posted): 07-Feb-2020
  • Discharged: 04-Mar-2020
  • Closed: 23-Jun-2020

I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

Re: Chase Relationship Building?

@FriendshipSoft  10 years is a long time! I say you have a good chance.

I never got any pre-approvals from them, one day cold app for Amazon and then CSP with decent CL last year.

The only issue I see is your 20% UTI, that seems high. However it depends on how many CCs you are currently have.

Good luck.

Re: Chase Relationship Building?

@FriendshipSoft ,

I was able to get back into the Chase ecosystem using the Amazon Visa preapproval.  I got the preapproval a few months after my chapter 7 bankruptcy dropped off my CR's. Yes I burned Chase badly.  I was approved for $15,800 instantly and use it quite a bit. I got a promo to open a Total checking and savings account, and I got the bonuses credited to both accounts within 30 days.

I am not getting any credit card offers yet because I'm at LOL/5 in 12 and 24 months.

I have nothing but good things to say about Chases, but I'm surprised they even let me walk in the door!

I'm sure you start seeing offers soon.

Re: Chase Relationship Building?

I was approved for a CSR this morning, and my banking relationship is virtually non-existent and I have a less than stellar credit profile (have a CO reporting until this fall). I had no preapproval offers when I applied either.
