Chase Sapphire CLI Odyssey

Hey guys,

Hope everyone had a good holiday! So, today I want to give a little information that I learned to help others and I'd like to ask for your wisdom as well. I have had my CSP for exactly one year. I've never asked them for anything and they've never given me anything like an auto CLI. That's fine. So I felt a CLI was in store as I plan on traveling next month. My CSP limit is $10,000. It was at the time my highest but not any longer. The first nugget I'd like to share is they pull TU NOT Experian for a CLI if you live in the PA/DE/NJ area. This irritated me because I was waiting until BOA updated from $2k to $7k on my EX report before I called and it hit EX yesterday but as we know TU runs behind. I waited a week for it to update before I called as BOA was my lowest line. All for nothing since they pulled my TU report which still hasn't updated.

Anyway, I call today and talk to the CSP rep and he puts in a HP CLI request. Surprises me when he tells me it wasn't auto approved but rather went to 7-10 day which I will receive a letter regarding the ultimate decision. I thanked him and got off the phone. I was a bit surprised that had happened but shortly after I got off the phone I realized that he never even asked me how much an increase I was looking for. I sat around for a little bit then decided to call a Chase credit analyst. That brings me to my next nugget of info I'd like to share with you. The number here and a lot of places is wrong and disconnected. The new Chase analyst number is 1-888-270-2127 the old is 888-245-0625.

So, in my haste I didn't verify the new number off an unfamiliar blog with a trusted source and just called and was connected to India immediately with no menu and the guy asked for my app # or social. Like a dummy I handed over my social all the while hoping the blog I found the # from wasn't an elaborate scam. While I was on the phone I verified the number online and it's legit. The guy asked me some redundant questions and some new questions (my job title, how long I owned my home) then FINALLY asked me how much increase I'd like. I asked for $20,000. He then puts me on hold again and comes back and instead of giving me an answer right there he said he's forwarding it on to another person and I'll hear back in 24-48 hours! So this strange CLI experience continues...

Any experience with something like this? Sorry for length.

I'd wait for the letter, sounds like a denial. I'd recon after you received it.

Re: Chase Sapphire CLI Odyssey

24-48 hours sounds like there may be a system issue or they just need a higher up approval.  Just keep an eye on your alerts and periodically check your account online for the change in the $ amount of your CL.

I would normally think that as well but the CSR told me before he pulled my credit that it would go one of three ways: Auto approval, auto denial or needs to be sent to a credit analyst (7-10 days). The only reason I called back the second time is the guy never asked me what amount I would like to increase to. We will see soon!

That's exactly what I'm hoping, brother! We'll see. Do you have Chase? If so, ever request a CLI?

Re: Chase Sapphire CLI Odyssey

I have Chase through proxy of washington mutual absorption.  i don't bug them for CLI's because it's pointless to take HP for their cards in my opinion. I have the Slate just to collect the free score each month from them.  Keep it around for age purposes and only use it once a year for something so it keeps a pulse.
