So I applied for a CSP a week or so ago hoping to get the 75k points SUB (applied before the venture x) it went pending. Got the denial letter in the mail today. It was declined for the sole reason of "not enough accouts established" or something to that effect. Surprisingly they pulled me at 702 on EQ according to the letter. Even though its 684 accoring to myfico.
I know chase doesnt like to give accounts out to people with new credit but my WF card is over 5 years old at least. I know I am still considered to have a thin profile. But is this just a give it time and try again later? Im at 4/24 with my new Venture card. Unless the bestbuy store card doesnt count towards 5/24 then im at 3/24 but i have read mixed things on whether that counts or not. Should I just let my venture and other cards age for 12 months or so and try again?
Sorry for double post, it wont let me edit. I mean to ask if it would be worth it for me to try for another chase product like amazon prime or freedom just to get my foot in the door with them so to speak? Amazon would be very useful to me and I could certainly use the 200 dollar gift card.
As far as the score differece, double check which score chase quoted. Myfico gives out fico8, Chase might be using fico9 or a bank card score.
As far as another chase card, they might be less picky with the prime cobrand card, but it will count in 5/24.
Looks like you had three bankcards, that should be enough, so I don't get it.
I'd suggest you call them on Monday during East Coast business hours at (I think) 1-888-270-2127 and ask for a reconsideration of a denial. Be prepared to point out to the analyst you speak with that you have several years of a clean history along with regular use of the cards you already have, and have a rational explanation ready as to why you want this specific card and how you're going to use it. An example could be that you've been told that you're going to be starting domestic travel semi-regularly for work in a few months and you're interested specifically in the CSP because you want to have a good travel-centric card to use that doesn't focus on a single airline or hotel chain. Successful reconsideration requests with Chase aren't just a pipe dream, they do happen.
My guess is that what hurt you was that you didn't already have a card reporting with a limit at or close to $5K. $5K is the minimum starting limit that Chase will grant with a CSP.

Their standard is to use their own internal risk scoring algorithm, I think known as a CARS score, normally using Experian data although they will sometimes also pull either TU or EQ.
Assuming Chase didn't see your Capital One hard pull, you were at 3/12 prior to your CSP app - which lenders can see as pretty agressive credit seeking - especially in less developed credit files. In addition to Coldfusion's point about your file at the time reporting low CL's, I would also add that 702 is still on the low side for CSP. It never hurts to ask for reconsideration, but if try and that doesn't go your way, I would take a break and focus on increasing your score to 720 or above. Good luck

Call their reconsideration team and ask for a manual review.
Calling in didnt go my way lol. I think im just going to work with what i have for the next 12 months or so and try again. Id really like to get into chases eco system, and since landing the Venture X im not super worried about a travel card or a large limit. Id be happy with a 500 limit freedom or prime card. But im not going to fret too much about it, and dont want to risk another HP to try for it.

@nrack79 , You don't have to waste an HP, the amazon cards have the option to first prequalify with an SP before taking the offer. Once you accept the offer by submitting the application, you are then hit with the HP. Below are the links for both cards.
FYI, if you're a heavy amazon shopper, it tends to push through...just an observation I've made over the years; as well as Chase gives better SL's than Synchrony. YMMV.
Example: My DP's when approved for the Chase Amazon prime (2022) - score was EX-8 799 and new accounts 10/24 , 5/12 (9/24, 4/12 reporting).

Try the Chase first since that's the card you want and it has a $250 GC sub right now through July 14th! Good luck!
So a little frustraing, The link said I was prequalified for the chase amazon so I took the plunge and still got a pending app. Not sure why that happened. I will call tomorrow I guess and see. I did it through my husbands amazon prime account. But put in my name and social in the prequalifier so maybe its a fraud verificatioin thing.
