Hey everyone! I think I'm going to finally apply for either the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve this week. I'm waiting for my recently paid CC to report tomorrow to lower my utilization. In the meantime, I'm wondering if I were to apply for the Sapphire Reserve and get denied, would I be able to apply for the Sapphire Preferred right after? Or are you not able to do that/is it not good to do that/is your score dinged badly from the previous hard pull, etc....?
Side Question: Does anyone know exactly what Chase pulls? I heard they pull Experian where I live. I see on Experians website that there is Fico 8, Fico BankCard Score 8, Fico BankCard score 2, etc...
Any and all info is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

You can apply for one after being rejected for the other but it will likely cost an additional HP, in other words they wont use the same HP for both applications. Many people only get a single pull (per application) but Chase has been known to do double pulls as well... EX, and TU. As far as how badly your scores get dinged per HP, that's very much profile dependent. Some people take a 5 to 10 point hit, others little to no hit so YEMV.
The Reserve generally has a higher bar to reach as far as approvals and scores go with your best chances with scores 750+, The Preferred best chances are at 720+... best of luck!

I never knew that. I thought they both had the same underwriting standards.

@SouthJamaicaI thought CSR had a slightly higher standard due to Chase abiding by the $10k Visa Infinite min as compared to the $5k min approval on CSP?
