Perhaps they are just a little backed up on getting to applications right now. I had a similiar thing occur when I applied with US Bank for the Shopper's Cash Rewards card. I applied on the 4th of the month, didn't get instantly approved. Got denied a couple of days later. I called in to do a reconsideration. They told me it would take about 3 to 5 days because their underwriters were backed up and trying to catch up. When I called back in to follow up they said it still hadn't been looked at by an underwriter, we're still trying to catch up. I ended up not getting approved until the 12th. I'm guessing that's when they finally got to my application.
